Hello,

My understanding is that sympy is part of the python package

python3-sympy-1.8-1.fc34
python3-3.9.9-2.fc34.x86_64
octave-6:5.2.0-12.fc34.x86_64

python -V
Python 3.9.9
octave -V
GNU Octave, version 5.2.0

I never used mathlab

It seems that I may have to do
pip3 install sympy==1.4

I tried r rebuild sympy-1.4
but I get
error: Failed build dependencies:
    python3dist(sphinx-math-dollar) is needed by sympy-1.8-1.fc34.noarch
    python3dist(wurlitzer) is needed by sympy-1.8-1.fc34.noarch

    python3dist(theano) is needed by sympy-1.4-6.fc34.noarch
    python3dist(wurlitzer) is needed by sympy-1.4-6.fc34.noarch

Try "sympref reset" and repeat your command?

It seems that it is an identified bug, due to sympy

How is sympy installed on your computer ?

Which versions of Python are installed on your computer ?  Which version is invoked when you are running Octave ?

Kudos to you for using Octave instead of Mathlab.
