I actually need to install this specific package from brltty.com because I know for a fact that the upgraded version, 6.3, works pretty well.

That is the downside of installing similar packages from outside of the Fedora universe.
There are differences in the way things are packaged such conflicts are bound to arise.

That is why I would have discouraged installing the packages from brltty.com unless there
was a known reasons to do so.
