hmmmm   update..

this works...
aa='bash'
echo $aa " pp"
xx= pgrep -f $aa | wc -l
echo $xx

however, I can't seem to figure out how to enclose the aa var in
single quotes within the pgrep.

thoughts/comments..

thanks
