How to add new hard drive to increase disks pace in bsfs?

I have a PC with Fedora 43 installed 2Tb hard disk (SSD) an want to add another 2Tb hard disk (SSD) to increase total disk space to 4Tb. The file system following: UUID=xxxxxxxx / btrfs subvol=root 0 0 UUID=xxxxxxxx /boot ext4 defaults 1 2 UUID=xxxxxxxx /boot/efi vfat umask=0077,shortname=winnt 0 2 UUID=xxxxxxxx /home btrfs subvol=home 0 0 How is the simplest way to increase do this without lot of work?

firewall zone for localhost

I notice on my Fedora box that the firewall says localhost is in the home zone. Is that normal? I would expect it to be allow everything, not sure that "home" is that liberal. Removing a broken package

I guess I should know this, but I'll ask anyway. For some time now I've been getting errors when trying to update MS Edge using dnf. Install inxi and post `inxi -Fzxx` output here. The basics of debugging on Fedora is to look in the user and system journals. In your case you are, it seems, that gdm is the of immediate interest. What is the status of the gdm service `systemctl status gdm.service`? Barry P.S. Your email setting make reading your emails challenging in dark mode.

Controlling Laptop Battery Charging

Greetings, Is there a way of setting min/max parameters on laptops (mine, being a Dell XPS 9380)? My Samsung phones have a feature to limit charging to 80% of capacity in order to prolong battery life. I would hope that it is possible on the laptop. Thank you. Max pyz(a)brama.com

Mouse cursor

Hi, a friend has a problem, he uses F43 and KDE on a Dell laptop and a few days ago the cursor started doing weird things in some programs. Instead of the arrow it becomes a strange cross and stops working, it moves around but does not interacts with anything, no click or hint or anything but outside of the prog window itis normal again. One of the program was Obsidian installed as a flatpak, we tried removing and reinstalling but the only way to get it to work was using the "appimage" instead. The other program was "grace" an old plotting program. I suppose it could be a X11 vs Wayland problem but there was no change before this happened, no update or upgrade or anything. What could be the problem ? Thanks, G

BTRFS failure - dracut-initqueue : After updates got this point on reboot.

Reboot after updates just stopped. No spinning of indicator and no response. Only power to reboot. Watch next boot, and it got to dracut-initqueue with 3s/unlimited showing, but again never moved? Tried older kernels, they did same thing. Could boot to my G4L kernel, and it worked fine. Checked the other partition, and the btrfs check and all came back as good. Had a full disk image of the 1.8T disk from 2 days earlier, and other than the updates nothing really changed. Restore the 160G disk image to the 1.8T disk, and booted fine. Ran updates, and this time it rebooted fine. Did research and it came up a a btrfs issue linked to the firmware on the Crucial T500. Now the strange parts. Found ISO that is suppose to fix it. unzip -l T500-P8CR004-ISO.zip Archive: T500-P8CR004-ISO.zip Length Date Time Name --------- ---------- ----- ---- 26214400 09-09-2024 07:59 T500_P8CR004.iso --------- ------- 26214400 1 file Extracted and copied to usb, but it would not boot. Worked with google ai and claude.ai trying all kinds of options, and validate it was a hybrid syslinux 4.05 setup, and had what should have worked. Others had reported issue as well. but got no where. Eventual solution from google ai that worked. Extracted data within the ISO to actually get to the actual firmware files. core_extracted/opt/firmware# ls -lR .: total 4 -rw-r--r--. 1 root root 113 Sep 8 2024 firmware.properties drwxr-xr-x. 1 root root 10 Jul 17 22:28 P8CR004 ./P8CR004: total 2512 -rwxr-xr-x. 1 root root 2572288 Sep 8 2024 1.bin went thru a process that was able to update the firmware, so now have the latest firmware? /dev/nvme0n1 /dev/ng0n1 241047785F9C CT2000T500SSD8 0x1 2.00 TB / 2.00 TB 512 B + 0 B P8CR004 Seems the fwupdmgr could not upgrade the firmware since crucial isn't in that process? This is what I now get. Believe before it was just showing CT500 so that has changed. fwupdmgr update Devices with the latest available firmware version: • System Firmware • UEFI CA • UEFI dbx Devices with no available firmware updates: • Windows Production PCA • CT2000T500SSD8 • KEK CA • Key Exchange Key • Option ROM UEFI CA • TPM • UEFI DB So, got it fixed, but was a lot of steps. Not sure why they have an ISO that doesn't work. So, perhaps others might have similar setup. Since it is a know problem and the updated firmware is suppose to fix it? Will have to see. Is a much faster device than older one. unbuffered 1622.67 MB/sec compared to older one that was about 500MB. Dell Latitude 5580U without latest nvme so notebook is limiting issue. persistent curl trouble F44M-C

I run F44 Mate-Compiz on three boxes, two of which (my numbers 2 & 3) are doing fine; but for several days now, whenever I try to run dnf5 upgrade on number 1, I get screens full of "curl error (6)" leading to a message saying it couldn't connect. I haven't seen this problem here; but I'm hoping someone has seen enough of it elsewhere to recognize it. I've been trying to send the error message from number 1 to number 2, but haven't managed it yet -- it's been a lot of years since I've had occasion to send a message across my LAN rather than in and out of it. -- Beartooth Staffwright, Not Quite Clueless Linux Power User I have precious (very precious) little idea where up is.

latest mariadb-connector-c 3.4.9 breaks mythtv

This version picked by my server today. fc44 on x86_64. I do not know what is responsible but downgrading to 3.4.8 solved the problem. Maybe a clash between rpmfusion and fedora? It looks like it may me a major problem with handling date/time. All "Previously Recorded" show a date in 2106... MythWeb, which directly accesses the db, works just fine. myth:6544 has the problems, as does mythfrontend, and likely mythbackend (no recording made). Status shows "no upcoming". All schedules show start/end of 00:00:00. No "Program Guide" data showing. No "Upcoming" (natch), and more. This update was in stable for two days now but I do not see any mention, maybe it is something else on my server? -- Eyal at Home (fedora(a)eyal.emu.id.au)
