latest mariadb-connector-c 3.4.9 breaks mythtv

This version picked by my server today. fc44 on x86_64. I do not know what is responsible but downgrading to 3.4.8 solved the problem. Maybe a clash between rpmfusion and fedora? It looks like it may me a major problem with handling date/time. All "Previously Recorded" show a date in 2106... MythWeb, which directly accesses the db, works just fine. myth:6544 has the problems, as does mythfrontend, and likely mythbackend (no recording made). Status shows "no upcoming". All schedules show start/end of 00:00:00. No "Program Guide" data showing. No "Upcoming" (natch), and more. This update was in stable for two days now but I do not see any mention, maybe it is something else on my server? -- Eyal at Home (fedora(a)eyal.emu.id.au)

Hello, I collected a Brother printer (CDP-J132W), but have not been to make it works in USB Tt is not recognize by lsusb It shows up in the printer manager as CUPS-BRF-Printer Address localhost:631 Driver Generic Text-Only Printer The "test Page" does not not anything. The search for driver runs for ever. I tried linux-brprinter-installer but it want to install mfcj880dwlpr-1.0.0-0.i386.deb mfcj880dwcupswrapper-1.0.0-0.i386.deb brscan4-0.4.11-1.amd64.deb brscan-skey-0.3.4-0.amd64.deb I also tried brscan4-0.4.11-2.x86_64.rpm and dcpj132wlpr-3.0.0-1.i386.rpm brsaneconfig4 -d says sane-find-scanner # sane-find-scanner will now attempt to detect your scanner. Within the past few days, I saw an article in Yahoo Finance or Yahoo News reporting that some AI (Anthropic) finds thousands of security vulnerabilities in every major operating system and browser. Here's one article about this: "https://thehackernews.com/2026/04/anthropics-claude-mythos-finds.html", but I don't know if that's the same article that I saw before. I wonder: just how vulnerable is Fedora? ... and how vulnerable is Firefox?

OT: recommendations for a 2880x1800 external monitor?

Hi, My new laptop has a 2880x1800 resolution. I was wondering if it is possible to get an external monitor that matches that resolution and what recommendations are there. I looked around, but I could not tell if there are external monitors that can have this resolution. I would ideally like to have them be the same, if possible. Any suggestions? Thank you! Is it fedora, Firefox or just me doing this to the file "Save" dialogue?

For a while now I am fighting with FF moving things around, clearly wanting to destroy any muscle memory I build. [I can show one commonly used case where the same button moved 3 times just to annoy me. Just ask...]. When I click on a link that fetches a file, the "save" dialogue comes up. Good. The filename is at the top (correct one), followed by the path (correct one again, nice) and then a list of potential files in that path. Lastly, at the very bottom, there are "Cancel" and "Save" buttons. Should probably be familiar to everyone. It used to be that "Save" was already selected (highlighted) so hitting "Return" on the keyboard just does it. It is not selected anymore, I need to move the mouse to click "Save". This is a very recent change. Anyone else seeing this? Is there a solution or is it a bug that will be fixed soon? Related to the recent reorganization of the Settings panels? SELinux nightmare!

Bonjour, I try to have a fail2ban jail for emby-server... Fail2ban complains that it cannot find a log file for emby but this file exists and setting setenforce 0 shows that fail2ban can find it. ls -Z /var/lib/emby/logs/embyserver.txt gives: system_u:object_r:var_lib_t:s0 /var/lib/emby/logs/embyserver.txt What can I do to give fail2ban permissons on this file? Odd question: change a running VM's clock?

With a libvirt/qemu/kvm VM, is there any way to change the real-time clock while the VM is running, or especially in pm suspend-to-mem mode? I'm trying to see if I a bug with something that seems to happen across a suspend/resume cycle where the system is asleep for a bit, and I'd like to test it in a VM without just having to wait. So I'd like to suspend the VM, jump the VM's RTC ahead, and then wake it, so it thinks it was down for longer. -- Chris Adams <linux(a)cmadams.net>
