PCI-E to PS2
by ToddAndMargo
Hi All,
Fedora 39
I am trying to find a PCI-E 1x to 2xPS2 adapter
that actually works.
The only one I could find was
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VB9TD6D
and it was dead on arrival: no power to the
keyboard.
You guys know of one that is Fedora friendly
that actually works?
Many thanks,
-T

CLASSPATH for all Java installations?
by Jeffrey Walton
Hi Everyone,
I am building a DocBook, which requires Java. Fop is provided by
Fedora. I want to install FOP-Hyphenation provided by fop-hyph.jar.
The problem I have is, I don't know the CLASSPATH to place
fop-hyph.jar. It can be one of several locations provided by Fedora.
Cf., <https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/java-packaging-howto/fedora_java_spe...>
and `alternatives --config java`.
My question is, where can I put fop-hyph.jar so that it is available
to all Java installations provided by Fedora?
(The info below is from Fedora 39 and Fedora's fop. I can't find
relevant reading on 'set_classpath' used by fop. I guess my Google-foo
is off today).
Thanks in advance.

Dear fedora users,
Booted successfully to newer kernel but now have no sound
$ uname -a
Linux fedora 6.7.4-200.fc39.x86_64 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Mon Feb 5 22:21:14 UTC 2024 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Visited alsa-info.sh file from github

Any ideas, thoughts and suggestions are appreciated. Solved one problem booting kernels >= 6.4.12-300.fc39.x86_64, now have no sound. The settings show "dummy output" was using hdmi as output for sound.
Best Regards,
Antonio

wsdd failed Result: resources
by Tom Horsley
What on earth does that mean? Is there a contest to see who can
generate the least useful error message? :-).
My best guess is that it is trying to use ipv6 and I have ipv6
turned off? Or is it trying to use a bridge I have that isn't
normally connected to anything?

Strange message on boot
by Robert McBroom
I typically boot in mode 3 to a terminal. Fedora f39 going to lxde as
the desktop. Today with a cold boot and entering the user login the
following message showed
--
System is going down. Unprivileged users are not permitted to log in
anymore , for technical details see pam_nologin(8)
--
Further messages indicated that some updates were being installed. After
some minutes the system rebooted.
Everything known has been done to prevent any automatic updates with
manual dnf being used as needed. The pam_login module looks for the
existence of
/etc/nologin or
/var/run/nolongin
What is updating files without a command and writing these entries?

Strange keyboard shortcut on cinnamon
by Theodore Papadopoulo
Hi,
I'm under cinnamon. For some time now, the keyboard shortcut
Ctrl+Alt+T randomly delivers a Konsole or a gneome-terminal, which I
find very annoying.
I tried to disable the shortcut and re-enable it, to disable all
extensions, etc, nothing changes really.
My gsetting do not mention konsole at all. The ones that seem relevant
look reasonable to me, so I'm a bit lost...
-> gsettings list-recursively | grep terminal | grep cinnamon
org.cinnamon demands-attention-passthru-wm-classes ['gnome-screenshot',
'lxterminal', 'xfce4-terminal', 'firefox', 'libreoffice', 'soffice']
org.cinnamon.desktop.default-applications.terminal exec 'gnome-terminal'
org.cinnamon.desktop.default-applications.terminal exec-arg '--'
org.cinnamon.desktop.keybindings.media-keys terminal ['<Primary><Alt>t']
org.cinnamon.settings-daemon.plugins.media-keys terminal ''
Does someone has a idea ?
Thank's in advance.
Theo.

With Great Power comes great responsibility (Spiderman movie)
I wonder whether the current generation of Redhatters knows the power that
they wield.
