Vivaldi web browser - anybody?
by lejeczek
Hi guys.
Does anybody use Vivaldi?
I've had for a few years but have used it only for specific
subset of wwws. I've only recently noticed I do not get
sound during video playback, Youtube and others.
Can somebody confirm, using their yum/rpm packaged installation?
many thanks, L.

nmcli set dns search
by Mike Wright
Hi all,
I'm trying to use nmcli to set what would be the "search" option in
/etc/resolv.conf.
Using nmcli to set the search domain
"nmcli con mod eth0 ipv4.dns-search main"
(.main is the local private TLD for historical reasons)
"nmcli con show eth0" answers with
ipv4.dns-search: main
So that shows that it has that search domain associated with dns.
Rebooting the fedora 37 container shows that ipv4.dns-search is persistent.
However a simple request such as "ping dns" has no idea what the address
is, yet "ping dns.main" resolves. That says it knows the search domain
but it doesn't know what to do with it.
https://access.redhat.com/solutions/6983238 says this was "SOLUTION
VERIFIED" Nov 2, 2022.
This appears to be a bug in current f37. Anybody know anything about this?
Thanks for any help/insight,
Mike Wright

tar
by Patrick Dupre
Hello,
To create a tar file, I used to create a list and to make
tar -cvzf arch.tgz $list
However, if there are file names with a space, this space is
interpreted as file name separator.
How can I fix this,
either when I tar, or when I create the list?
Thank

OT: create a booklet from a pdf
by olivares33561
Dear kind fedora users,
I would like to ask for help creating a booklet from a pdf. I used to use psnup, psbook pdftops/pdf2ps and create a booklet from pdf and it worked. The secretaries at school helped me fix the booklet in order to print it and create a small booklet with the ordering correctly. Now I create a booklet but the order is not correct and somethings are upside down. The original file has 52 pages. I want to remove blank pages and reprocess/recreate the file in a postscript file if possible.
something like
pg 1 | pg 2
pg 3 | pg 4
pg 5 | pg 6
pg 7 | pg 9
place two pages in one and then on the back of page 1 | page 2 the last pages of the pdf should appear and correctly placed.
The pdf file as an example would be :
https://tea.texas.gov/sites/default/files/2022-staar-may-algebra-I-releas...
It has 52 pages and when after converting to ps and then making a booklet and processing with psnup -2 it comes down to 26 pages.
The information I applied follows from [1], [2] and [3]
I have tried to use OpenOffice/Libreoffice Draw and remove blank pdfs and rearrange but with no success. Some equations get changed and not kept as original. So I have eliminated this choice. I want to print a booklet so I can fold the pages into place if possible. Any advice is appreciated. Save paper and save trees is the goal.
Best Regards,
Antonio

Fedora 37: libvirt/qemu/kvm not work property with kernel
6.1.8-200.fc37.x86_64
by Dario Lesca
When I try to install a new VM with virt-manager, (es Rocky Linux 9 or
Fedora 37 WS) from a verified ISO file, the live setup do not start and
the installation procedure is blocked before displaying the graphical
environment.
I can only force restart o stop the VM.
This occur only with last kernel 6.1.8-200.fc37.x86_64, if I restart my
Notebook with a previous 6.0.x kernel all work fine and setup start as
expected.
Is this a know issue?
Thanks

Fedora 37: kernel: general protection fault, probably for
non-canonical address PREEMPT SMP PT
by Dario Lesca
On a Fedora 37 up to date (kernel 6.0.10-300.fc37.x86_64), sometime I
get this error[1]
This problem occur often when I use nfs server from another PC, and if
I try to restart nfs via systemctl the command it remains stuck and I
must power off the PC
Other times PC freezes and I must power off and restart it.
Could it be a hardware problem (RAM? or CPU?) or I must fill a kernel
or nfs bug?
Many thanks for your help.
Dario

I see discussions of container tech with lxd and docker on ubuntu. dnf
will install docker. Anyone have experience with a windows virtual
machine with these systems?
