This command is an Intel NUC on the local network, and /srv/backups is a Btrfs formatted volume.
$ sudo btrfs send -p home.20220810 home.20220815 | ssh chris(a)fnuc.local "sudo btrfs receive /srv/backups/fovo/"
Although when I'm traveling it looks a bit differently because I'll use a locally attached USB stick:
$ sudo btrfs send -p home.20220810 home.20220815 | sudo btrfs receive /run/chris/backups/fovo/
Because the "root" subvolume contains everything, including logs and VM images if you use virt-manager, databases, it can actually go through quite a bit of churn. Probably more than the typical "home".

install F36 KDE alongside Win 10
by Anil Felipe Duggirala
hello everyone,
I have done this before, but now I have one big doubt when completing installation of F36 alongside Win 10.
I shrunk one of the Win partitions to create good space for my Fedora installation.
I have booted the Live installer and entered the Installation destination section (screenshot here: https://user.fm/files/v2-f5626c9be22f21a346c100750161ab0e/nh7b5m4y3fv6uix...). If I select Automatic, will Fedora be automatically installed in the biggest unallocated space? and this space partitioned as per Fedora default?
I have seen instructions where people select Custom, and manually create partitions, I am way too nervous about partitioning the disk myself. I don't want to mess up the Win installation that has taken me time to setup. I don't remember having to this before.
thank you,
Anil F

WebEx client no longer works on Fedora 36
by Ranjan Maitra
Dear friends,
Does anyone still have the official Cisco WebEx linux client work with Fedora 36? It used to work fine a month or so ago, but has not worked for me for the last two weeks (at least). Specifically, what happens is that the client opens up all right, but then when I either start or join meeting, the window tries to start and then everything comes crashing down.
I am not sure what the problem is, and there are no error messages at
all, but I was wondering if anyone had
similar experiences and, more importantly, knew how to fix this
issue. I am updated to the latest July version of WebEx and F36 (but
for emacs, but that is not relevant).
Many thanks and best wishes,
Ranjan

The Mystery of Fedora Sound
by Jonathan Ryshpan
Can anyone point me to information about the Fedora/KDE audio system?
I'm running (I think) Pipewire and Pipewire-pulse, which usually serve
me well, but sometimes don't; and I have no idea how sound works on my
system. For example headphones plugged directly into an audio port work
on some configurations and not on others.
Here's a screen shot of the audio control applet:
* What defines the names?
- "Audioengine 2+" : Which are a pair of USB connected speakers
- "Build-in Audio Pro" : Which are my headphones
* Why does Built-in Audio Pro appear twice?
* What's the difference between "Built-in Audio Pro 1" and "Built-in
Audio Pro 2"?
* What are the "Profiles"?
* What is the function of the circles with dots, which look like radio
buttons, but can't be because two of them are selected.
* ...
System Info:
* Operating System: Fedora Linux 36
* KDE Plasma Version: 5.25.4
* KDE Frameworks Version: 5.96.0
* Qt Version: 5.15.5
* Kernel Version: 5.18.16-200.fc36.x86_64 (64-bit)

Evolution mail - Maildir format - does it work?
by lejeczek
Hi guys.
I have Postfix save to 'Maildir' and Mutt reads it no
problem - shows emails, etc.
But when I create an account in Evolution with "Server Type"
of "Maildir-format mail directories" I see no emails there -
is that not type for Maildir and perhaps Evolution does not
support this format or there could be a bug problem?
many thanks, L.

Bluetooth Earbuds
by Clifford Snow
I'm trying to use earbuds on a Fedora 36 laptop but I'm unable to get sound
out of the earbuds. Gnome Settings shows the ear buds paired but nothing in
type. The sound settings only offer the laptop speaker.
Any suggestions on getting the earbuds to work?
Thanks,
Clifford

Firefox issue
by ToddAndMargo
Hi All,
Fedora 36
firefox-102.0-1.fc36.x86_64
This seems to be an issue specific to the
repo's edition of Firefox. Everyone on
the Firefox newsgroup get it to work.
Removing and reinstalling did not help:
https://esupport.gigabyte.com/
Secure Connection Failed
An error occurred during a connection to
esupport.gigabyte.com. You are attempting to
import a cert with the same issuer/serial
as an existing cert, but that is not the
same cert.
Error code: SEC_ERROR_REUSED_ISSUER_AND_SERIAL
And it works fine in Brave Browser (Blink),
Waterfox (Gecko), Waterfox Classic (Gecko),
Vivaldi (Blink), but not Tor (Gecko) which
times out.
Geez!
