Gnome 40
by Robert McBroom
Does Gnome cache the rpm's of a software install, update? If so what is
the path? I normally use dnf and create a repo to use on other machines.

VM Setup
by Robert McBroom
Xeon 8 core machine with 16G. Fedora 35 server installed. Have CentOS8
installed in qemu/kvm virtual machine. What would be the appropriate
configuration of processor access and memory to get reasonable response
from the vm? With 4 processors and 2G response is atrocious.

fedora 30 :: Failed to synchronize cache
by Adrian Sevcenco
Hi! I have a strange situation when trying to update a fedora 30 installation:
dnf is not working because all repositories give: "Failed to synchronize cache for repo"
and this is in the context of updating earlier a station f29->f32->f35
Any idea what is going on? It feels weird being able to update an older version
but not this one...
Thanks a lot!

dnfdragora issue Fedora-MATE_Compiz-Live-x86_64-36-20220302.n.0.iso
by Steven Usdansky
I know this belongs in bugzilla, but I don't really understand which component is the problem. I'm running from the live iso. When attempting to run dnfdragora from System->Administration->dnfdragora on the panel , nothing appears to happen. When run from a terminal, I get the following:
[liveuser@localhost-live ~]$ dnfdragora
Try reading configuration file
From ./dnfdragora.yaml
Skipped exception: <[Errno 2] No such file or directory: './dnfdragora.yaml'>
From /etc/dnfdragora/dnfdragora.yaml

Printer problem
by GianPiero Puccioni
Hi,
I am having problem installing a printer for a friend.
It is a new F35 install and the printer is a Samsung ML-1640 connected via USB.
The installation via CUPS seems good but if I try the "Test Page" nothing
happens and "journalctl -u cups -e "

The driver is Samsung_ML-1640_Series.ppd and I copied "rastertospl" in the

Any suggestion?

Fedora 35, Nvidia 510 and Wayland: no video
by Matti Pulkkinen
Hello,
I wanted to try Gnome on Wayland with the Nvidia proprietary drivers,
since that's a change that seems to be coming down the pipe for F36.
Most other things seem to work fine, but I cannot get videos to play,
not in MPV and not in Totem either. I only get audio. However, videos
inside Firefox seem to play just fine. Has anyone experienced this and
maybe found a fix?

Evolution: Starting Over
by c. marlow
Hi,
I am trying to erase everything in Evolution and start it over as if I
had just installed Fedora and Evolution
I asked on Reddit and I got this far:
I was able to do:
rm -rf ~/.config/evolution
rm -rf ~/.local/share/evolution
rm -rf ~/.cache/evolution
But when I get to:
dconf reset /org/gnome/evolution/
is where the trouble starts...
I can't get this command to work:
[chris@fedora ~]$ sudo dconf -f reset /org/gnome/evolution/
[sudo] password for chris:
error: unknown command -f
Usage:
dconf COMMAND [ARGS...]
Commands:
help Show this information
read Read the value of a key
list List the contents of a dir
write Change the value of a key
reset Reset the value of a key or dir
compile Compile a binary database from keyfiles
update Update the system databases
watch Watch a path for changes
dump Dump an entire subpath to stdout
load Populate a subpath from stdin
Use 'dconf help COMMAND' to get detailed help.
[chris@fedora ~]$ sudo dconf reset /org/gnome/evolution/ -f
error: -f must be given to (recursively) reset entire directories
Usage:
dconf reset [-f] PATH
Reset a key or dir. -f is required for dirs.
Arguments:
PATH Either a KEY or DIR
KEY A key path (starting, but not ending with '/')
DIR A directory path (starting and ending with '/')
[chris@fedora ~]$
Any ideas on what I should do?

Thanks,
Chris

Problems with phantom mmcblk0
by Robert Moskowitz
I have been busy using Etcher to make arm boot images.
Now it is telling me that it cannot write to /dev/mmcblk0
Etcher is not running. I do not have an SD card in the system, yet /dev
is listing mmcblk0
Is there someway I can remove this so perhaps things will start working
again without a reboot?
Note inserting then removing the SD card from the SD slot does not
change /dev showing mmcblk0.
