Bug with VLC on F35 with Xfce
by Robert Moskowitz
I had a locked system with a specific (set?) of mp4 viewing with VLC.
I went to bugzilla.redhat.com to report my system locking up, but seems
they do not take bugs for VLC (it comes from rpm-fusion-free).
Where do I report this? Basically with a lecture that I have had no
problem viewing in the past with VLC on F32 and Xfce, locked up my
system so badly that I had to power cycle.
thanks!

LUKS on shutdown.
by murph nj
I'm having an issue shutting down. Fedora 34, just updated to 35, same
problem. (It was around in 33 as well, I've been putting up with it.) I
know that there is another list for beta versions, but this issue was there
in the current version as well.
Somewhere around 1 out of every 10 shutdowns, the system goes down to
"[ OK ] Reached target System Shutdown", but then,
"[ *** ] a stop job is running for Cryptography setup for luks-<cycle
through LUKS volumes>"
It typically goes for about 1/2 hour if I don't get fed up, and hold the
power button down.
I just saw after that 1/2 hour:
[Time] Timed out starting System Reboot
Forcibly Rebooting: job timed out.
audit: type=1334.........
I still had to power it off. On reboot, it seems OK.
I haven't found anything interesting in /var/log/messages regarding it.
Any suggestions to further troubleshooting?
Thanks,

several issues with f34
by Paolo Galtieri
Folks,
I have 2 systems running F34. These 2 systems connect to a common
monitor via a keyboard-video-mouse switch.
First issue. One of these systems, when I boot any of the 3 most recent
kernels, when it gets to multi user mode displays "Input not supported"
but works fine when I boot kernel 5.14.18-200.fc34.x86_64. The other
system boots fine. So what do I need to look at in order to get it to
display the login screen?
Next issue. This same system connects to the internet via a USB wireless
adapter. This adapter never comes up at boot time. In order to get it
to work I need to unplug it and plug it back in.
Next issue. This same system is configured to start ntpd at boot, but it
doesn't start. I need to start it manually after the system is booted.
Next issue. Here is the output of df

What do I need to do to get the system to check my filesystems at boot?

F34 pipewire and jack emulation; no sound from bluetooth headset
by karlderletzte
hello,
i have a annoying problem with the routing of sound if jack server is running
and used.
scenario:
without jack server running the bluetooth headset is used and works
well.
the problem is, that inside the patchfield of jack, there is no route to
the bluetooth headset, only the default system output.
therefore the sound from jack is routed to my loudspeakers or plugged
headset.
unfortunately no bluetooth connections available.
i read a bit on the pipewire issue list, and it seems that i'm not alone
with bluetooth issues.
any idea how to play sounds through jack to bluetooth headset?
ps: i use the pipewire-jack emulation.
the newest versions available from the fedora34 repos.
thanks

Problems reinstalling bootloader after a Windows update
by Adam Mercer
Hi
I dual boot my Fedora 35 system with Windows 10 and a Windows update
decided to remove the Fedora bootloader and I can no longer boot into
Linux.
I've booted from the Live CD and chrooted into my system after
mounting /boot and /boot/efi, I've then been following the
instructions here:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/GRUB_2#Instructions_for_UEFI-based_systems
and when I reinstall the grub packages I get the following error:
Running scriptlet: grub2-common-1:2.06-8.fc35.noarch 26/26
error: failed to exec scriptlet interpreter /bin/sh: Permission denied
warning: %posttrans(grub2-common-1:2.06-8.fc35.noarch) scriptlet

Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
I have a system backup so all is not lost but surely I should be able
to reinstall the bootloader?
Cheers

google-chrome and sound
by François Patte
Bonjour,
Since an update (I can't remember when...) google-chrome changes my
sound status at strartup: whatever the settings of loud-speakers and mic
are, it opens them and sets them at 50% each.
How to forbid chrome to do that?
Thank you.

Suspend
by GianPiero Puccioni
Hi,
I am returning to a topic raised last year..
A friend has a laptop Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Series 5593 and "suspend" when he
closes the lid doesn't work anymore, as it doesn't get back and he has to reboot
it. Video card is "Intel Corporation Iris Plus Graphics G1 (Ice Lake) (rev 07)".
It did work with kernel 5.6.6 but stopped working with more recent kernels.
He uses F32 with that kernel since. But now he wanted to upgrade to F34, has
anyone with a similar laptop experience with a recent kernel and does it work
again now?
And would it work upgrading to F34 an booting froma F32 5.6.6 kernel if it
doesn't?
Thanks,
GiP
