compiling dahdi-linux kernel module
by Greg Woods
The dahdi kernel module (used by asterisk for some Digium telephony cards,
including the one I have) is not included in Fedora because it is not free
software. The dahdi configuration tools are included, but not the kernel
module. The software is free as in beer, it can be downloaded and built,
and I have successfully done that in the past. However, the last time the
kernel module compiled successfully was back
at kernel-4.6.3-300.fc24.x86_64 . On all newer kernels that I have tried, I
get this:
[root@worldsys dahdi-linux-master]# make
make -C drivers/dahdi/firmware firmware-loaders
make[1]: Entering directory
'/local/src/dahdi-linux-master/drivers/dahdi/firmware'
make[1]: Leaving directory

DAHDI_INCLUDE=/local/src/dahdi-linux-master/include DAHDI_MODULES_EXTRA=" "
HOTPLUG_FIRMWARE=yes modules DAHDI_BUILD_ALL=m
make[1]: Entering directory '/usr/src/kernels/4.11.12-100.fc24.x86_64'

It looks like some warnings are being treated as errors, such as an
implicit function declaration in this case. Is there a way I can turn that
off just long enough to get this module built? I'm stuck running a
non-updateable kernel until I can find a way around this. In my early
career I used to build stuff all the time, but it has been a while since I
have had to compile anything from source.

Re: MikeeUSA -- Notice Bruce Perens has NO response (nor does
Moglen). [Was: Re: GrSecurity]
by esodnencaocrefsdv@aaathats3as.com
Malformed ascii art saying "Don't feed the trolls"
IE: Can't attack the message, attack the man.
Because White Men Programmers simply do not know what they do not know
and take proper, correct, legal analysis from a license attorney dealing
with a relevant issue as "trolling".
Here's a response from another attorney:
https://lists.archlinux.org/pipermail/arch-general/2017-July/044040.html
https://lkml.org/lkml/2017/7/29/128
Notice Bruce Perens has NO response.
Neither does Professor Moglen who apparently forgot to include a
no-revocation clause in version 2 of the GPL when he drafted it, thus
keeping open the possibility of any rights-holder to unilaterally recind
their grant at any time for any reason so-long as they did not make a
relied-upon communication to the grantee speaking otherwise.
(seemingly** completely negligent drafting of the document) (a
no-revocation clause would atleast make it easier to claim estopple and
prevent unilateral revocation*)
(Notice that the later edition; v3 (which linux is not licensed under)
rectify this ommission (yes this is the main reason v3 had to be
drafted, the patent issue is a foil))
But Bruce and Moglen are friends (and both look down on Hans Reiser;
feeling disparagingly about his work because Hans Reiser obeyed the
dictats of his God regarding the adulterous behavior of the wife Nina,
and then further, Hans did not accept any other ruler/judge/power etc
(thus rejecting the plea agreement))
thus Moglen stays silent as Bruce Perens libels me. They have their
square glasses on, they love their civilization that raises the woman
above the man, that makes the man a draft animal of the woman, and keeps
the man's love: the young girl***, from him.
Bruce Perens and Professor Moglen have adopted the white man's belief
system:
That the man is the beast upon which the woman rightly rides;
(rather than the Overlord (ba'al) of the female).
Bruce Perens, Moglen, etc look down on those who see beauty where it
truly resides: in the young girl***.
Bruce Perens and Moglen are thus feel Superior for spurning what is
actually good and embracing a pale shadow that seeks to collapse upon
them.
*no guarantee however... this is an inherent right of a property
owner... to recind unilateral grants, control his property, alienate it
as he wished
** we do not know the requirements that the Client privately
communicated for the drafting of the document
***( taking girl children as brides is permitted by the God under
Deuteronomy 22, 28-29, hebrew )
Hans Reiser did nothing wrong according to the Book of the Law
(Deuteronomy).
Still, he stays strong.
First A victim of false love
Now A prisoner of conscience.

686 w/o 64: Whence?
by Beartooth
I downloaded F26 and tried to install it to an old T42 Thinkpad
(which currently has F22; I haven't been using it). It says it can't even
boot, but needs 686 architecture withOUT 64-bit.
So I went back to getfedora.org, and started looking-&-mousing
around. (I want Gnome2 with Mate, or if not that, with Xfce.) Is it even
there?

NFS4 kerberos
by Louis Garcia
I've setup a kdc server and I'm able to kinit from my client and get a
ticket for ssh, nfs. I'm noticing nfs slow to mount, and disconnects
randomly when mounted with sec=krb5p. When I mount insecurely this does not
happen. I read that this has to do with gss but have not found a solution.
thanks.

Print crossword puzzle -
by Bob Goodwin
This is a new install, updated, Fedora-26 using XFCE, however I believe
the problem began with Fedora-24.
I print several puzzles every day usin Firefox, puzzles presented in pdf
print without any trouble, however those that require Flash stop working
when the Fedora print window pops up, it looks normal but does not
display/recognize my printer, the printer name is missing/blank. I am
forced to use SeaMonkey to print the flash sites such as:
http://puzzles.usatoday.com/
Using Firefox the line that says "Print to Printer:" simply shows "No
Printer." SeaMonkey shows the printer and prints. It seems Firefox
should do the same and it used to ... I've googled this extensively but
never come near finding an answer. I would prefer not having to use a
second browser to print puzzles.
Can anyone offer an explanation, better yet a fix?
*Bob*

I mean only this two virtual network adapters can be seen by
# ifconfig
that's all
neither the player,
the workstation nor
the virtual network editor front end start ...
it is complete unuseable ...

I give up, no change to bring VMware Workstation running after F25->F26
upgrade ...
by Walter H.
tried VMware Wkst. 12.5.6, also 12.5.7 ... no change ...
even the hack to get the additional virtual network interfaces, nothing
helped ...
maybe the next release of VMware Wkst. 12.5.8 will run ...
as VMware Wkst. is essential for me, there is no way having Linux
instead of Windows;
the decision to try it with Fedora is the feature of inplace upgrade and
keep it up-to-date ...
I'll keep my old windows running as log as the hardware is working ...
