Hello users and developers,
We had presented deltametadata project at DevConf.CZ 2017[0], goal of
this project is to minimize bandwidth required on clients to update
repository metadata (repomd.xml, primary.xml, etc.) which would improve
user experience with DNF.
So, we have DNF plugin which acts
How to try it?
1. dnf -y copr enable @rpm-software-management/deltamd
2. dnf -y install dnf-plugin-zsync
If something doesn't work, look into /var/log/dnf.log.
We would like you to try it out and give feedback, it is very important
for us! Just send it as reply to this message..
P.S. F25 and above are supported

Dell XPS fans
by InvalidPath
I believe the latest kernel update has messed with the fans on my XPS 9550,
their doing the whole spin out of control thing. I have not verified this
though, too busy with work stuff to reboot and start over.. yet. But I
wanted to toss this out there in the off chance another XPS user has
noticed something afoot with their fans.
I'll bounce into an older kernel tonight and report back.
Thankes!

OT: help understand this reply from gmail
by JD
I sent a message to a company in India called Delhi Photo,
whose email address I gleaned from
http://www.photocopier-suppliers.com/delhi-photo-company-janpath-new-delh...
So, I emailed them at dpco(a)bol.net.in
but, gmail replied with a "problem" I had not seen before (Directory
Harvest Attack).
What I do not understand from the message:
Is Gmail being accused by the targetserver of the email address as a DHA
source
or is gmail detecting that the server of the target email is a DHA source?

problem mounting btrfs 1 raid on boot
by joakim@verona.se
Hello,
I have a 2 disk btrfs 1 raid which I want to mount from a fedora
installation on a separate ssd.
This went fine for a while, until my fedora ssd died. Then I made a new
fedora on a new disk.
Now the btrfs raid wont mount during the boot process, but it will mount
later, if I remove the btrfs raid from fstab, and mount it by hand when
the machine has booted.
The only difference between the first fedora install that broke, and the
second one that I can think of, is that the first one used btrfs for
filesystem, and the second one ext4. So I'm suspecting that the btrfs
filesystem doesnt get properly loaded or something in the second case.
(I just forgot to make the 2nd install use btrfs for the root partition)
Is there something I can do about this?

setting time in QEMU image
by Robert Moskowitz
I have a F21 QEMU image. Use it for a number of things and not too
interested in updating it. I like gthumb from back then. They have
ruined a nice simple image viewer.
Anyway, the issue is system time when I resume the image. The image was
paused, as I have learned that if I suspend the system without pausing
this QEMU F21 image, said image runs at 100% cpu and will not respond
unless I kill it. Pausing it avoids this most of the time.
When I reenter the image, the clock is off and it rarely resets. So far
I have used system-config-time to kick off ntpdate, or whatever it is
using. This is a time consuming process and it locks the system,
requiring me to reenter my password (which I had to do for
system-config-time).
Is there some cli that I can easily use to reset the time of the image.
Note that the main image, F24 always has the right time.
thanks

Lightning full part of thunderbird or not?
by Joachim Backes
Hi all,
Alledgely, since TB 38 lightning is full part of thunderbird. For the
moment, I'm running TB 52 on F25. Going to the TB addons, seeing that an
lightning addon is installed. This a strange policy.
Can anybody please explain this circumstances.
Kind regards

gcc
by Patrick Dupre
Hello,
I would like that gcc generates an error (and not a warning),
when there is a call to a non predeclared function.
How can I do it?
Thank.

Problem with my home network
by Jon Ingason
Hi,
I got a very strange network problem. My home network is one router
(ASUS RT-N66U) (R), two Fedora machines (A F24 and B F25) connected to
the switch ports on the route. I hav also a laptop, Windows 10 (C), HP
ENVY AIO (P), and couple Android devices (mobile phones, tablets etc),
all connected via WiFi to the router.
I was installing the printer (P) on B with HP Device Manager (HPDM) and
that went well. Then I started HPMD on A and the printer icon showed up
in HPMD, but the printer and scanner didn't show up. Refresh didn't
helped either. The I removed the printer and tried to install it again.
Got message "HPLIP cannot detect printers in your network."
I then pinged P from A but no response from the printer. Then I locked
at the HPMD on B and every thin was OK. I could refresh the printer and
both printer and scanner was there. I pinged P from B and C with
success, but not from A. But I could ping B, D and R from A with success.
I used Wireshark on A and B to see what is happening, but it just
confirmed that P didn't respond to A, responded to B.
Question is what can be the problem here.

I can't see why the firewall should suddenly start blocking a specific
address, that is the printers IP-address. Besides A can ping all devices
that B can except the printer. In A's firewall, there is no rule that is
specific for the printer IP-address.
I have been using this printer/scanner for a over two years from machine
A without a problem.
I would appreciate more tips.
