I need to install fedora with only text mode available. I don t need
graphical desktop installed.
Is there a way or an image that allows this?

Is anyone else having trouble with liveusb-creator gui. It downloads ok
but it will not show up afterwards. Help will be greatly appreciated.
All things are workable but don't all things work.

I have a dual headed F23 system using a NVidia graphics card. Everything was
working fine until today when I installed the latest set of updates.
Both screens were set to 1280x1024 resolution.
However, since I rebooted after completing the update, my right hand side
screen is now limited to 1024/768.
If I look in System Settings -> Display Configuration it correctly recognises
my left screen as a CY765. However, the model of my right screen is no longer
recognised, and just shows it as VGA-1 which is it's port.
I'm certain that it used to know the model of that screen too.
Can anyone suggest how I can get this resolved, or at least where to look to
find the problem?
I recall seeing an rsyslog entry to prevent these messages from
filling my messages logs, but it no longer appears to work with f24.
Is there a more specific method to disable audit messages?
Sep 26 14:40:56 alex kernel: audit: type=2404
audit(1474915256.442:724): pid=3297 uid=0 auid=4294967295
ses=4294967295 msg='op=destroy kind=server
direction=? spid=3297 suid=0 exe="/usr/sbin/sshd" hostname=?
addr=184.108.40.206 terminal=? res=success'
I'm not using selinux, and have enabled rsyslog. They're just not helpful to me.
I'm using kernel-4.6.6-300.fc24.x86_64 with the proprietary NVidia
driver, plus daily updates from the stable repos. Hibernation used to
work with previous kernels, but now regularly fails to wake up
properly, i.e. on restarting I get the BIOS screen followed by the boot
text console and select the first (newest) option as usual. So far so
good. Then after a few seconds I see the BIOS again, repeat the
selection, and get a full reboot.
Anyone else seeing this?
I have an ASUS R503U which originally came with a Windoze8.1 installation. I have no need for it so I scrapped it. I also, consequently have no need for EFI.
I was wondering if it is required for me to install Fedora 24 on an EFI system. I can not seem to get out of EFI so maybe what I am looking to do is not possible. Is it possible to do the same in an old grub setup.
Many thanks and best wishes,

I have several machines I've recently upgraded from F23 to F24 using
DNF. Daily upgrades of F24 packages on most of them are proceeding as
expected. But this morning I found one that did a very peculiar
"upgrade". Details below.
# cat /etc/fedora-release
Fedora release 24 (Twenty Four)
# rpm -q fedora-release

So, it appears that, having been asked to do a routine upgrade, DNF
chose to /downgrade/ these four packages to their F23 versions. Why? Is
it just because the F23 versions are numerically greater than the F24
versions? But how is DNF even finding the F23 packages in the F24 repos?
Hello good people of Fedora!
Most of you is probably facing very slow java (java-1.8.0-openjdk) on any arm32 device.
The luckier from you already tuned arm32 boards to not need java at all.
But behold! The "new" OpenJDK for arm32 crossed milestone when it can be widely used.
If you need java on your arm32 board, try to replace (or install alongside) your java-1.8.0-openjdk
special package java-1.8.0-openjdk-aarch32
The theoretical speedup is aprox 100x faster. Practical speedup is somewhere between 10x-50x (for
now). You can see it in koji:
http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=780150 - java build by "normal" java on aarch32
- 13 hours
http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=802986 - java build by "new" java on aarch32 -
We have already slowly started to enable virtual java provides:
f24 - no
f25 - java
f26 - java+java-devel
Please *don't* change your specfiles (if any) to something like:
You will mess up things a lot. The provides will come with stability and in longer run the package
will be merged back to java-1.8.0-openjdk packages (as it is still the same friendly openjdk, just
with different virtual machine)
Has anyone had this problem?
After I unolock the screen, firefox seem slow to recognize mouse or
keyboard input. There is a period of about three minutes where no matter
what I do it will not register with firefox (switch tabs, try to click on
I can switch and move windows, and terminal and other programs recognize
the input without problems.
I am using Fedora 24, XFCE ( but I think something similar happened also
How can I start troubleshooting this?

I want to add an input method to ibus: so I created a new file in
/usr/share/m17n and a new png icon in /usr/share/m17n/icons.
I can access this new input method in ibus preferences, but the icon of
this input method is not displayed when I switch to my input method...
Only a gear is displayed.
Does anybody know if there is some icon database to update for m17n?
