qt
by Patrick Dupre
Hello,
which qmake
provides
/usr/lib64/qt-3.3/bin/qmake
while I need a version 4
/usr/lib64/qt-3.3/bin/qmake is part of qt3-devel
How can I install qt4 ?
dnf install qt4
provides
Package qt-1:4.8.7-18.fc24.x86_64 is already installed, skipping.
If I remove qt3-devel
I do not have any qmake available
Thank for your help.

dnf does not upgrade mediawiki
by josef radinger
hi
i have a weird problem and before fixing it by deleting and reinstaling i
would like to discuss it:
i have installed (but not yet configured) mediawiki. today i mentioned
that there would be a newer version available.
installed is mediawiki-1.26.3-1.fc24.noarch
available is mediawiki-1.26.4-1.fc24.noarch
dnf upgrade mediwiki gives:
Last metadata expiration check: 1:11:17 ago on Sun Nov 6 15:12:14 2016.
Package mediawiki not installed, cannot update it.
No match for argument: mediawiki
Error: No packages marked for upgrade.
rpm -q mediawiki gives:
mediawiki-1.26.3-1.fc24.noarch
why is dnf not detecting the installed package?
steps taken to fix the problem (without effect):
dnf clean all
rpm --rebuilddb
mediwiki is announced in my /var/cache/dnf/updates/.....updateinfo.xml.xz

why is dnsmasq running?
by Neal Becker
I was interested in trying to configure a local dnsmasq, but when I tried to
start it, I found out there was already one running, using port 53.
I don't know who started it or why it's running, or if I really need it.
ps auxwww | grep dns
nobody 1052 0.0 0.0 51124 1100 ? S Nov04 0:00
/sbin/dnsmasq --conf-file=/var/lib/libvirt/dnsmasq/default.conf --leasefile-
ro --dhcp-script=/usr/libexec/libvirt_leaseshelper
Clearly has something to do with libvirt, probably I did some experiment a
long time back that required it. But just removing libvirt-daemon is not an
option, that would remove a lot of stuff.

Botched fedup F23 -> F24 with nvidia
by Mark
Hi
I've got a Fedora 23 desktop that I thought was time to upgrade to
Fedora 24. I followed these instructions
https://fedoramagazine.org/upgrading-fedora-23-workstation-to-fedora-24
And because I have nvidia kernel modules from rpmfusion I also did
dnf install http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/rpmfusion-free-r
elease-24.noarch.rpm
dnf install http://download1.rpmfusion.org/nonfree/fedora/rpmfusion-non
free-release-24.noarch.rpm
before fedup.
The upgrade process went without any problems until the first boot up
with F24. All I got was a grey page with the text "Oh no! Something has
gone wrong. A problem has occurred and the system can't recover. Please
log out and try again."
With Ctrl-Alt-F2 I could get a terminal, and verified that I had a
matching nvidia module for the new kernel. I tried to run the command
nvidia-xconfig and reboot. I also tried to boot one of the F23 kernels.
I tried to disconnect the second monitor if that would make any
difference. All got was that grey page telling me that something was
wrong. dmesg didn't provide any message that I though would be directly
suspicious.
The graphics card is a Nvidia Quadro 600 (GF108GL)
How to recover?

Dual boot
by Celso Viana
Dear All,
I had a setup with "Windows 10" and "Fedora 23" dual boot (UEFI). I
installed the "Fedora 24" on this machine and the installer failed to
detect the most "Windows 10". Does anyone know how to reconfigure /
reinstall GRUB to Windows appears in the boot menu?
Thanks

Tab Completion Broken
by Michael B Allen
I have two files:
SUM-12_schematic.pdf
VMware-Workstation-Full-10.0.1-1379776.x86_64.txt
Doing:
# ls SUM<tab>
works as expected and completes the filename but doing:
# sh -f VMw<tab>
does not work. The filename is not completed.
Clearly someone is trying to "help" me and not complete a file that sh
is not normally known to be used with sh.
Can someone tell me how to disable this "helpful" behavior?
