Can't kill a umount

I was copying some files to a newly set up USB HD, and then did some
umounts when done. Well they are still running, and
kill pid
is not killing them and they are taking up most of my cpu.
I have never seen 'kill' fail.
What can I do other than reboot?

KDE Plasma 5 loading

After having installed kde-desktop on Fedora 22, and chosing Plasma as
environment from gdm I am greeted by a grey screen with only a pointer
to move. Looks like it doesn't even load a window manager.

Fedora 22 random freeze

Hi
Is it already known why Fedora 22 randomly freezes up?
I am getting frequent freeze ups. I think it is at the display level
because whenever it freezes up, I can always SSH to it from another
computer. All input and output on my PC remain frozen.
Nevertheless, even though I can kill X, it stays displayed on the screen
and even if I try to reboot, the cmputer does not reboot, I have to
physically hit the reset button.
I am usng the KDE spin
Is this problem known?, How can I troubleshoot it? How can I even describe
it to google for it? I have been googling a little but all I get are
unrelated general freeze up pages.

Upgrade from 20->21and then 21->22

Hi,
I just upgraded 20 to 21 without any notable issues. I then started
upgrading to 22 (
fedup-cli --network 22 --debuglog /root/21to22.debug.log)
but ran into issues.
All packages were fetched but upon restart the computer froze before and
installation could begin. I rebooted but now the option to boot from the
System update (fedup) was not present. I booted into Fedora 21 and
everything appears normal (apart from my bash prompt which looks very
strange: "]777;notify;Command completed;sudo package-cleanup
--dupes[username@computer ~]$").
If I try to start fedup again I get:
fedup-cli: error: argument --network: version must be higher than 22
and package-cleanup --dupes shows that I have both 21 and 22 of all
packages.
What is the best thing to do here? Can I clean out everyting 22 related and
start again? Or can I get back into the install process somehow?

Aaugh! Sound devices changed again!

Every single fedora release, and sometimes even just from
an update where there wasn't a full release, the sound
devices get renumbered or renamed. The last time I
tried to play a movie and send the sound to the optical
output connected to my receiver, this worked:
pacmd set-card-profile 1 off
mplayer -vo gl_nosw -ao alsa:device=hw=1.1 -ac hwdts,hwac3, -monitoraspect 16:9 -fs "$@"
I tried it last night for the first time in a while, and
it doesn't work. I've had to fiddle this script over and
over again every time sound devices change.
When are we going to get immutable names for sound devices?
If they can do it for ethernet ports, surely they can
do it for sound cards, right? (Though come to think of it
the "immutable" ethernet port names change in every release
as well :-).

Hard drive issue

Hello,
I tried to modified a partition table by using fdisk, but it
failed. Now I am in trouble. I setup the disk inside an external usb enclosure
and try to access it.
After I turn the enclosure on, I only have a short time to interact with
the disk (maybe 15 s).
During this time I can make a fdisk and I get:

How, can I fix this partition table (actually only 2 partitions : 6 and 7)
are wrong.
testdisk only access to the disk during this too short time.
How can I avoid to lost the hand on the disk?

PCI-e SSD recommendation for a F22 machine

Hi,
I was wondering if it is possible to use a PCI-e SSD for the root and swap partitions of a workstation running F22. I am thinking of installing F22 and my swap here -- the machine has 64GB memory. So I am considering getting a 128 GB PCI-e SSD, and leaving 96 GB for swap and 32 GB for /. /home will be on a different SATA HDD.
Do you have any suggestions and recommendations for a 128 GB PCI-e SSD?
