Tablet hardware
by Florian Weimer
Is there any tablet-like hardware which is well-supported by Fedora 20
and later? Something with a high-resolution display?
I don't need 3D acceleration beyond what's needed to run a typical
desktop environment, but I'd like to have lots of RAM, a bit of CPU
power (perhaps even a current Core i7) and an SSD with decent read
speed.

Yum and partial downloads.
by Robin Laing
This was a question asked of me by one of our network admins.
Background.
Today, while doing the updates on my machine at work, one of the
packages was close to 300MB in size. Yum tried to download this file
multiple times with no success. It kept timing out with the below 1000
Bytes/second for over 30 seconds.
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=964298
In one case, the file was at 99% complete when it stopped. Restarted on
a different mirror at 0%
Due to firewall rules there is bandwidth management and it allows
downloads to start at a high speed only to slow down at 25MB.
The Question.
The network admin asked if Fedora was like Ubuntu that will continue
downloading where it left off? I stated I doubted it as the display
kept going back to zero

yum-cron: Updateinfo file is not valid XML
by Alex
Hi all,
After some recent update, I'm now receiving this error via email from a
crontab for updating yum from yum-cron-daily:
/etc/cron.hourly/0yum-hourly.cron:
Updateinfo file is not valid XML: <open file
'/var/cache/yum/x86_64/20/updates/gen/updateinfo.xml', mode 'rt' at
0x11d1540>
I've seen references to this error when searching, but it mostly relates
to a bug from 2012.
The file exists, and looks like XML, but there must be something wrong
with yum's ability to parse it...
Thanks for any ideas,

grub2 boot failure when adding disks
by Alex
Hi,
I'm having trouble reinstalling grub on a fedora20 system after adding
two new disks in addition to the two that are already installed. It
appears to install correctly, but after booting, only a single dot then
a flashing cursor is printed.
There are currently two RAID1 disks mirrored using mdadm mounted on /
and /boot, and I'm attempting to add two more to be mounted separately
on /var.
If I remove the new two disks I just installed the system boots normally.
My fstab after adding the new md2 partition for /var looks like this:
UUID=3c2510e3-1d30-4c5a-be1b-5639732acea8 / ext4
defaults 1 1
UUID=0c3a3ce6-dac9-4b8c-8836-4f086272427f /boot ext4
defaults 1 2
UUID=916747c5-3043-4ad6-9a6f-6e688bb0a731 swap swap
defaults 0 0
UUID=7e39732f-8080-4869-b218-4e45eada381e swap swap
defaults 0 0
/dev/md2 /var ext4
defaults 0 0
My /proc/mdstat looks like this:
# cat /proc/mdstat
Personalities : [linear] [multipath] [raid0] [raid1] [raid6] [raid5]
[raid4] [raid10]
md1 : active raid1 sda2[0] sdc2[1]
51198904 blocks super 1.2 [2/2] [UU]
bitmap: 1/1 pages [4KB], 65536KB chunk
md0 : active raid1 sda1[0] sdc1[1]
511988 blocks super 1.0 [2/2] [UU]
md2 : active raid1 sdb1[0] sdd1[1]
58581824 blocks super 1.2 [2/2] [UU]
Installing grub2 on sda appears to work but doesn't boot:
# grub2-install /dev/sda
Installation finished. No error reported.
I recalled installing the boot sector on md1 (on /) during installation,
but that doesn't work at all. I believe
# grub2-install /dev/md1
/usr/sbin/grub2-bios-setup: warning: File system ‘ext2’ doesn't support
embedding.
/usr/sbin/grub2-bios-setup: warning: Embedding is not possible. GRUB
can only be installed in this setup by using blocklists. However,
blocklists are UNRELIABLE and their use is discouraged..
/usr/sbin/grub2-bios-setup: error: will not proceed with blocklists.
Booting from the sysrescuecd to the two existing disks works fine. Below
is my fdisk output.

checksumm information
by Patrick Dupre
Hello,
With fedora 21, I get
No checksum information available, unable to verify media.
(from checkisomd5 "/iso-image/tails-i386-1.3.2.iso)
I even rebuild the partition table.
If I am correct I already did that in the past.
IS it a bug, or is it me?
Thank for your help.

Nouveau trouble
by Anders Wegge Keller
With a Dell Precision M4600, running Fedora 21, I've started experiencing
troubles with my X sessions within the last six months. The symptoms is that
X frezzes, and sometimes, but not always, I can switch to a VT and make a
controlled shutdown. At other times, the machine is totally unresponsive,
and the only resort is to force a powerdown. I cannot state a more precise
date for the first occurrence, as I wrote it off as thermal problems.
However, after a vacuum session, the problem persisted, so I dug into the
system logs. In /var/log/messages, I find the following pattern on each
occurrence:
Apr 28 00:18:35 localhost kernel: [11057.344140] nouveau
E[gnome-shell[2031]] multiple instances of buffer 156 on validation list

Has anyone seen something similar to this before, and if so, what cures have
you found?

partitioning new machine
by Neal Becker
Actually, re-partioning old machine.
Last time, I setup 1 big 1TB btrfs partition. I'd like to do a re-install
for f22, and I'm wishing now I had my home on it's own partition - since now
I need to backup and restore my home (about 165GB).
Or perhaps there is another way? shrink the 1TB btrfs partition, create a
new one for /home, and copy? How could I do that, and could I do it online,
or only from some rescue USB? (/home is on the same single partition as /).

Copr hosting?
by R Mercado
Hello,
(short question)
Is there among the fedora sites a location to host the src.rpm I will
generate for copr?
Thanks,
RM
(longer explanation)
I am interested in copr to create a repository where I intend to provide
a fixed version of a program on Fedora 21 using fixes available
upstream.
I have created a "project" in copr following the first few steps of
https://fedorahosted.org/copr/wiki/ScreenshotsTutorial
https://copr.fedoraproject.org/coprs/kiso49j/shotwell/
I am expected to enter a location where the src.rpm of my project is
located but I don't have any place to host it.
