Firefox -> Flash cannot see webcam on F20 system
by Gary Stainburn
Hi folks.
I know this seems to ber a regular problem but none of the things I've found
so far seem to work.
My cam works fine in cheese, and works fine in skype. However, Flash doesn't
even see it, and on the Flash admin panel the web cam tab doesn't even show.
I'm using a HP Envy 17-J184na with built in web cam. From memory, I think it
just worked (for cheese and skype) without me having to do anything.
I'm trying to use flash through Firefox.
I'm using
flash-plugin-11.2.202.460-release.x86_64

Javascript / AJAX / Textarea problem
by Gary Stainburn
Hi folks,
At some point the following code stopped working properly, but I don't know
when.
Now when I try it, both on Firefox and IE all of the text appears on the first
line. I've checked the source text and it has newline characters (I've also
changed them to CRLF which made no change).
When I update form.config.value the contents are correct and contain the \n
when inspected using FireBug, but they appear wrong with everything on one
line.
Anyone got a clue how to fix this for both Firefox and IE. I've found loads
of stuff on Google, except the answer
Gary
AjaxRequest("/hardware/ajax"+debug+".html?baculaClientConfig="+name,
function(xmlHttp) {
if(xmlHttp.readyState==4) {
var form = document.getElementById("clientConfigForm");
if (form)
form.config.value=xmlHttp.responseText;
}
},false);

How To preserve file attributes (chattr/lsattr) when copy it to another location
by Dario Lesca
I must copy a dir with some file with 'i' attribute set, but rsync (or
cp) do not copy this attribute.
See this little example:
# touch testfile
# chattr +i testfile
# rsync -aAX testfile testfile2
# lsattr testfile*
----i---------- testfile
--------------- testfile2
There is a way to copy all attribute?
Many thanks

an idea about upgrades
by JD
It would be a great idea if Fedora would provide
a way to downgrade to the immediately previous release
(from which the upgrade was performed), if the user
decides (for some reason) to return to the previous
release. This would completely obviate the need to
do a backup, and restore - especially for a 1TB or
more drives (I have a 4TB drive, for example).
Cheers,

Wayland and display order (F21)
by SternData
Although my system isn't quite working with Wayland, I want to keep
playing with it. How do I tell it to save a change in the order of the
displays? Right now, I have to use preferences -> displays with each
login. With "regular Gnome", I used an xrandr commmand to order the
monitors.
