nxclient (from nomachine) and gnome3
by Joachim Backes
Hi all,
I'm running f23 with gnome3 desktop env. Having a weird problem if
connecting with nxclient-3.5.0-7 to some remote linux server (for
example scientific linux) running nxserver-3.5.0 or freenx-0.7.3-9.4.el6:
My problem: if configuring the nxclient when accessing the remote
machine (remote: gnome, but not gnome3, and, this is important, full
screen), then the upper part of the remote display (menu bar:
unusable,...) is not usable (remains insensitive) . It seems the local
gnome 3 bar (at the screen's top) inhibits the use of this remote area
of the screen).
I think it's a gnome3 problem, because if running lxde as local desktop,
then the described problem disappears.
So my question: anybody has similar problem and has a solution?
Kind regards
Joachim Backes

munin-node ignores permissions
by Alex
Hi,
I have a fedora22 system with munin-2.0.25 and have a few modules that
I just can't get to work. They all respond with some form of
"permission denied". I've disabled SELinux (security=0), and I've
checked all permissions as the user running the script.
2015/12/29-21:34:48 [3814] Error output from bind9_rndc:
2015/12/29-21:34:48 [3814] rndc: error: open: /etc/rndc.key:
permission denied
2015/12/29-21:34:48 [3814] rndc: could not load rndc configuration
2015/12/29-21:34:48 [3814] /etc/munin/plugins/bind9_rndc:
/var/named/chroot/var/named/data/named.stats: Permission denied
If I change /etc/rndc.key to 644, it runs fine.
The contents of /etc/munin/plugin-conf.d/munin-node:
[bind9_rndc]
user named
group named
env.querystats /var/named/chroot/var/named/data/named.stats
env.rndc /usr/sbin/rndc
env.graph_args --upper-limit 100 -l 0
env.graph_scale no
env.graph_vlabel %
I added a system() to bind9_rndc:
system("id > /tmp/123.out");
It creates the file owned by named with group nobody, despite "group
named" above. The contents of the file are:
uid=25(named) gid=99(nobody) groups=99(nobody),25(named)
Why is it ignoring the "group named" above? I've even tried creating
the config file as /etc/munin/plugin-conf.d/bind9_rndc and it still
seems to ignore it. Is that the proper place and format for it?
I have another virtually identically fc22 munin-2.0.25 system with the
same config files and it's not having a problem.
Any ideas greatly appreciated.

[Fedoar 23] Unable to boot Fedora 23 on ASUS ROG Laptop
by Earl Ramirez
Good day All,
Happy Holidays; I received a new ASUS ROG laptop GL552VW-DH71 [0] and each
time I try to boot the live OS it will freeze just before the Gnome xwindow
start. I removed both "rhbg and quiet" from the kernel argument and it
fails at the following stage:
Starting WPA Supplicant daemon...
[ OK ] Started WPA Supplicant daemon.
12.250106 IPV6: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): wlp2s0 link is not ready
[ OK ] Created slice user -1000.slice.
Starting User Manager for UID 1000...
[ OK ] Started User Manager for UID 1000.
Here is where it is stuck; I am using the Fedora 23 x86_64 workstation; are
there any kernel argument that I can use to fix this so that I am able to
boot and eventually install Fedora 23?

Thanks Kari,
I was able to boot the live image; I noticed that the touch pad doesn't
work, however I have a mouse as a temporary until I can manage to get the
appropriate drivers installed or modify or installed a newer kernel with
the supported drivers.
You mentioned that I will have remove nomodset from the kernel command line
or create an xorg.conf file. I assume it will be okay if I install Nvidia
drivers may create the xorg.conf file.
Thanks again for your response I am a few steps closer to having Fedora on
my laptop.

Re: [CentOS] routing with 2 public ips

Joey said that he had a server, not a router, so I did not get the same
impression as you. However, even in the situation you describe, where a
Linux router has two WAN links and one LAN, you can use "ip rule" to
manage multi-homed routing without using iptables to mark packets based
on MAC addresses, or any other exotic solutions.

stop NetworkManager start network -> RTNETLINK answers: File exists
by Philip Rhoades
People,
I have an old netbook that I have just installed F23 i386 XFCE
Workstation on that I want to use (as lightly loaded as possible) as a
remote webcam. Since I need to be able to reboot it and have the
network come back up with wlan0 working, it appears I have to use the
old "network" system instead of Network Manager (NM requires a login to
activate wlan0?). So I am doing this:
systemctl stop NetworkManager
systemctl disable NetworkManage
systemctl enable network
systemctl start network
but network doesn't start and doing:
systemctl status network
gives lots of lines like this:
. . . RTNETLINK answers: File exists
Googling finds this problem all over the place - especially with old
versions of Fedora - but I can't find a fix for my particular situation.
I imagine there is a simple fix but I haven't found it yet . . can
someone enlighten me?
Thanks,
Phil.

Or going to the fedora-arm list to ask about arm support?

Strange sendmail behaviour
by Stephen Davies
I am trying to change my sendmail configuration to deliver all "user unknown"
emails to a specific account (baduser).
I added the DL definition to sendmail.mc and generated test.cf.
Then I tested this new config using:
echo who | sendmail -v -Ctest.cf noone
and the email was correctly delivered to the defined account.
I then renamed test.cf to sendmail.cf (in /etc/mail) and retested with:
echo what | sendmail -Csendmail.cf noone
and again the email was delivered to the baduser account.
Happy with this, I then restarted sendmail (via systemctl) and sent yet
another email to an invalid account.
Instead of the email being delivered to baduser, I received a 550 5.1.1 user
unknown reject email.
What have I missed here.
