Can anyone shed some light on this?
after installation of Fedora 22 on a Lenovo C200 I have the problem that WiFi
performance goes down from time to time.
I've already added "options iwl3945 11n_disable=1" for the module.
The normal performance is around 14 MB/s and suddenly it goes down
to under 1 MB/s. Disconnect/connect sometimes helps.
When running the good old fedora 14 I've never seen a problem
with WiFi on the same laptop.
Any pointer to a solution is very welcome.
Kind regards, Frank Elsner
I have lost my son's Fedora 22 :(
I did the insane step to change Desktop theme from
Fedora twenty two
to have a feel of its usability, I logout after change.
Cursor stopped on right corner.
I shut down the notebook with power taste.
When back, after login, I have "Plasma" on menu bar, nothing is clickable,
Desktop is black, manu bar is all right but I can't click on it.
I can only Ctrl-F2 to go to shell.
I see by top that plasmshell is consumng 100% of cpu.
Can I change back to Desktop Theme using some configuration file?
Thanks for the many answers to my initial request:
which I am only reading NOW, in the list archives, because...
I had wrongly flagged my own message and all its replies as spam :-(
(long story for another day).
Anyway: I will try the suggestions below over the weekend, and report

hopefully it should be enough. I also not use reverse port forward, on
servers. I'll let you know how it goes.

OK. Wanted to make sure I used the correct type to test.
Found a DVD-RW placed in my drive and brought up k3b. It showed the drive to contain an "Appendable Data DVD-RW". I then selected "Burn ISO". I didn't get any formatting dialog. It wrote the ISO just fine.
I used Fedora-Workstation-netinst-x86_64-23_Beta.iso and I only have an F22 system with a DVD drive.
I don't have a fresh, unused DVD-RW to try.
In reality, some people should stick to running Windows and others should stay away from computers altogether.
New clean install ofF22, started under either gnome or kde.
Using konqueror and/or dolphin for file browsing.
My file browsers will hang for extended intervals, then will work fine
for a while, then hang again. When hung, the window can be dragged
around the desktop, but nothing within the window responds to mouse
clicks. I prefer konqueror but when it hangs (and all instances of
konqueror will eventually hang once one does) I've started a dolphin
window and that will work for a while then it also hangs.
My setup for F22 is pretty much identical to what I've been using for
F20 for some time. Within F20 this has never happened, and in fact
I am forced to continue using F20 to get anything done.
I suspect samba since most of my storage is in a Win7 box, but when the
file browsers are hung, I can usually still access the win7 shares from
a cmdline. Filesystems shared from linux can be accessed from the Win7
It doesn't seem to be a basic resource issue - cpu usage is low, real
memory is available and most of swap is unused, no disc activity is
apparent, other tools still work, such as gvim, system monitor,
hexchat and konsole windows.
Selinux is permissive and disabling firewalld does not help. F22 is
up to date.
One other oddity I've noticed is that after initiating a restart from
F22 it will hang during the shutdown at some point for an indeterminate
period of time before continuing. This never happens after initiating
a restart from F20.
any suggestions for troubleshooting?
Greetings and... an admittedly very broad questions, maybe not
even related to Fedora except for "what are the best tools on
Fedora to diagnose this?"
I have this fedora desktop on which I usually keep open shells
connected to several servers, via ssh (on different ports too).
Until 3/4 days ago, I could leave all of them "hanging" for
DAYS, without typing anything at those prompts, and they'd
remain alive and ready to accept commands. Now, all of them
freeze if I leave them idle for more than a few minutes.
Every other connection (email, web, etc...) has no problem.
I have also noticed that if I rsync via ssh several GBs of stuff in
the same moments, from/to the same servers, with the same
accounts, same ports... etc, THOSE operations work just fine,
pretty quick too.
In other words, it's all and only the plain AND unattended
ssh connections that systematically freeze.
I ran yum update, and that did not change anything. At this
point, it is likely that either my ADSL provider and/or its
modem are doing something funny, so the question is:
how could I discover what happened, and where?
