22 kernel install doesn't change grub.cfg
by sean darcy
By a combination of ways, I've upgraded from 21 to 22.
One of my problems is that although the 22 kernel is installed, grub
doesn't show it on boot. I've erased kernel. kernel-core, then
reinstalled. No change in grub.cfg.
i'd expect an install script in the package to modify grub.cfg.
i really don't want to edit grub.cfg directly, and I can't figure out
the templates.
Any suggestions ?

Fedora on MacBook Air 7,1
by Frederic Muller
Hi!
Failed to install F22 on a MacBook Air 7,1 end of July. I think the
problem was coming from the new SSD drive/system which does not have a
proper driver yet. The machine is not mine but I'll be doing the
installation :-/
Any idea, hint or news about this?
Thank you.

Iam running Fedora in multi-boot with Windows10 (that was not recognized at
installation time). With os-prober I get an entry for Windows but it says
that is the recovery environment (that was included at installation time),
so I have two similar entries on sda1 and sda2, the first starting Window 10
How can I change the menu entry?? Tnx for help

Installing fonts for a particular language
by Ian Pilcher
Does Fedora provide a convenient way to install the fonts required to
display a particular language? "yum grouplist hidden" (on Fedora 21)
isn't showing me anything promising.

NFS on new workstation
by Jonathan Allen
Dear List,
I have just added a new laptop to our network configuration and put F22
on it. Lots of things look quite different from older versions. My
main problem is the networking. I want the machine, when it is plugged
into our wired network or locates it over Wifi, to auto-mount the shared
filestore on the server. On an older laptop running F17, I have code
inserted in the network-up script that does the mount, but I don't know
where to put it in F22.
I have currently typed:
# service nfs start
# mount -tnfs server:/share /share
The first witters, but works; the second brings up the NFS filestore as
expected.
How can I make the 'nfs' service package start at boot time so that the
rpc.statd service is available ?

strange issues with f22
by Paolo Galtieri
Folks,
I have seen several issues with f22 on one of my systems.
Issue #1: I tell the system to shutdown, and it doesn't. I see the
message "Powering off" on the console and then the system restarts. It
does not power off. This doesn't happen all the time, but I have seen
it happen on more than one occasion.
Issue #2: On this system I have an external USB drive. At least once a
day this drive will unmount without me requesting it. When I pull the
cable from the system and plug it back in I get a popup saying "Can't
find /run/media/pgaltieri/NEWDATA2". This is the normal mount point for
the device. The device is not listed in fstab. If I reboot the system
everything mounts as it is supposed to until the next random time the
system unmounts it :-(
Issue #3: Keyboard issues. When the system boots up the backlit
keyboard is turned on. I turn it off and the next time it boots it's
back on again. This system is attached to a KVM switch. When I enter
Ctrl-Alt-F2 on the laptop's keyboard nothing happens. If I enter
Ctrl-Alt-F1 to return to graphics mode nothing happens. However,
Ctrl-Alt-F4 does put me at a virtual console, but I can't get back to
graphics mode. If I enter Ctrl-Alt-F2 on the external keyboard I get to
the virtual console and Ctrl-Alt-F1 returns me to graphics mode.
The system is a Dell Inspiron 15 7537.

Importing external abook.mab
by JD
It seems that TB cannot import adbook.mab directly.
One must first export it as one of the various text type files or vcard
format.
This is strange, in the sense that TB cannot decode it's own created
file format
and import it without burdening the user to do the exporting -
especially since
the .mab file might come from a long dead account.
