HDA jack retasking
by Raman Gupta
I have Intel HDA Audio on my motherboard (Asus P9X79 PRO). This
chipset has the capability to retask jacks for another purpose, for
example changing a line out jack to a headphone jack.
Has anyone successfully retasked an audio jack (specifically, on my
motherboard, the blue Line Out jack) to a headphone?
I found a post on pulseaudio-discuss re. this hda-jack-retask program
which seems to imply it can be done, but it didn't seem to work (I
didn't try every available combination however):

hard disk install repo=hd:.... vs stage2=hd:...
by Jackson Byers
If this is a repeat, my apologies; I sent it several days ago
and haven't seen it in the "piper" history.
If this is a repeat, my apologies; I sent it several days ago
and haven't seen it in the "piper" history.
I have done hard disk installs using dvd.iso in the past several tilmes:
f11,f12, f14, all using something llke
title Install Fedora 14 hd0,0 sda1, repo=hd:/dev/sdb1:/root/df14iso
root (hd0,0) #sda1
kernel /f14install/vmlinuz-install repo=hd:/dev/sdb1:/root/df14iso
initrd /f14install/initrd.img-install
I presume the above would still work for f19
with obvious changes using grub2.
lately I have attempted using f19 netinst.iso.,
for which I found following advice
menuentry 'Fedora 19 netinst' {
linux /vmlinuz-install stage2=hd:/dev/sda9:root/Fedora-19-i386-netinst.iso
initrd /initrd.img-install
}
Note "stage2=' not "repo="
Is "stage2=" intended only for netinst.iso,
and
"repo=" intended only for dvd,iso ?
or, just when can I use "stage2="
just when can I use "repo=" ?
I tried the above menuentry 'Fedora 19 netinst' with its "stage2="
and the installer came up
but I couldn't manage the installer--
it seemed to insist on using all available space,
and I could find no way to change that.
and the install failed,
with my usb external now forrmatted with 4 more large partitions.
These I probably can remove with gparted........
If there is any general advice re
using dvd.iso vs netinst.iso
it would be greatly appreciated

Blank Screen after login on Fedora 19
by Craig Lanning
I have a laptop in a dock with an external monitor. In Fedora 18, I
configured it use the external monitor as the primary display and to
turn the laptop screen off.
The machine in question has the following configuration:
HP EliteBook 8560p
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2620M CPU @ 2.70GHz
8GB RAM
ATI Radeon 6400M
Docking Station with 1920x1080 monitor (connected via DVI) and wired
network.
Fedora 19 64-bit
If I create a new user, I can log into the new user just fine. I see
both monitors with the laptop screen being primary. If I change it so
that the external monitor is primary and the laptop screen is off, I can
reboot and login just fine. After I customize the desktop a bit, when I
reboot and login, I get a blank screen with a mouse pointer, but it
never goes any further.
I've seen comments about changing the display manager to either kdm or
lightdm, but neither of those helped. It still behaved the same. I even
found a comment about logging in to a text system (no display manager)
and using 'startx' to start the desktop. I tried that, but it still
behaved the same.
Is there some way I can regain control of the user?
Is there a way I can reactivate the laptop screen without using the
Display applet in the gnome-control-center?

Ok! 2nd day research did the result.
grub.cfg needs to placed in same directory as grubx64.efi

luks keyfiles and two stubborn disks
by Frank Murphy
I use an usb based keyfile,
to unlock luks disks\partitions.
It works on all boxes, but two hard-disks on my torrent box.
which politely wait for paswword to be entered.
cryptseup luksAddKey has been used on both drives.
Can't figure it out.

USB saving mode
by Patrick Dupre
Hello,
I do experience another issue with this USB key.
If the screen turns in save mode, then after I re-log, I can never return to
my session: the screen is black.
Only one option: kill the session.

Fedora 19 tricky install
by Robert Dady
Hi all!
I have the following configuration.
Win7 UEFI install
Fedora 19 UEFI install
Disk has GPT and Linux has following partitions:
/, /boot, /boot/efi, swap, /home (luks)
After installing Fedora 19 my system booted into Win7 instead of Fedora 19.
I have found out that the EFI entry of my previous Fedora 17 install hasn't
been modified and it was no longer valid. So bootnext booted my Win7.
Fedora 17 efi entry pointed previously to "\EFI\redhat\grub.efi"
I have made a new efi entry pointing to "\EFI\fedora\grubx64.efi" and I
named it "Fedora 19+"
I got a grub2 shell. Manually giving the root, linuxefi, initrdefi and boot
commands my Fedora 19 booted successfully.
Now I did a "grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub2.cfg"
At this point I still get the grub2 shell on boot and I need to issue the
"configfile (hd0,gpt5)/grub2/grub2.cfg".
Then I get the boot-menu I want to load automatically.
Question is where to put and how to name my grub2.cfg or what to modify
additionally to get grub config loaded automatically.
Best regards,
Robert Dady

I did close (after umount and using root)
/dev/mapper/luks-61967fe7-9143-45ea-aaf5-2e2697dbfeed
but again, when I plug the key back, it mounts the vol without
askig the passphrase.
