because fresh builds from koji are not in updates-stable?
that's why i linked to koji to try if the newer fixes your
problem and BTW to not reply only off-list

f17 no internet after power failure, power restored
by Jackson Byers
f17 no internet after power failure, power restored
{my wife's imac does have internet access.)
$ uname -r
3.8.12-100.fc17.i686.PAE
trying with chrome:
Quote:
The server's security certificate is not yet valid!
You attempted to reach www.google.com, but the server presented a
certificate that is not yet valid. No information is available to indicate
whether that certificate can be trusted. Google Chrome cannot reliably
guarantee that you are communicating with www.google.com and not an
attacker. Your computer's clock is currently set to Wednesday, May 25, 2011
10:10:15 AM. Does that look right? If not, you should correct your system's
clock and then refresh this page.
You cannot proceed because the website operator has requested heightened
security for this domain.
endquote
Then I saw, indeed the date on the time panel was
Wednesday, May 25, 2011
not
Saturday may 25, 2013
FYI: this f17 is result of several preupgrades over last few years
f12, f14, f16, f17
so maybe a lot of cruft has accumulated?
I am not sure, but I think I would have noticed a date change this
drastic, so I assume it was somehow caused by the power failure.
After lot of futzing around using my wife's imac
I found some instructions on the internet on how to change time, date.
and once I got the date correct, I could then again access internet.
as root:
# date +%D -s 2013-05-25
But oddly, if I then try to also change the time.
# date +%T -s 16:22:00 -u
this modifies the time but it is still way off,
and worse:
the date reverts back to the 2011 as above.!?
So i redo the date, and
again my f17 has internet, but a way off time clock.
advice, comments?

Big problem with an update
by Frank McCormick
I was updating Fedora 19 tonight when my system crashed ( I suspect it's
a memory error)....but anyway it
now **appears I have a lot of duplicate files on my system, at least
that what yum check all reports.
The crash happened after the updates had been installed I think during
the verify stage.
This is a partial list of what "yum check all" reports:

I am a relative newcomer to Fedora ( I'm a Debian refugee) so my

moment is pretty minimal.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how this can be fixed? The system
still boots fine
Thanks

Yeah, that's what I found in the Fedora forums. So I tried it. Now
the partition won't boot.
package-cleanup --dupes removed the dupes..at least it said it
was....but it also ran into a bunch of
files it said were zero-length...what it did about them I don't know.
Short version: the partition is now
unbootable. So I am back in Fedora 18...where I think I'll stay for a
while. I don't anticipate re-installing
19...at least not for a while.

A Software Center for Fedora?
by Anthony
One of the things I really like about Ubuntu is the concept behind the
software center. Canonical has poorly implemented it but the idea
behind it is pretty solid.
That got me wondering...why doesn't Fedora have a similar product?
Yes, I'm aware of Yum Extender but that's not a 'proper' software
store. I mean a full fledged store, complete with backend processing
and tracking.
Perhaps this is something that would be better for the dev list but I
thought I'd float it here before going there just to see the general
feel of the community.
Thoughts?
Thanks,

ePDFview bug, where to report?
by Fernando Cassia
Hi,
I've found a bug in the ePDF viewer as included in Fedora 18 XFCE.
Where should I report it?.
Particularly, a PDF file that shows OK in Adobe Reader, and also shows OK
when viewed with PDF.js inside Firefox (the internal Javascript based PDF
reader, which comes bundled with later Firefox versions but can also be
installed via the addons site at mozilla.org), instead shows with ePDFview
a page with a bitmap on it, as 'empty' (the bitmap doesn't show).
The PDF file in question is public, and has been generated by RedHat, and
is at
http://www.redhat.com/summit/2012/pdf/2012-DevDay-OpenJDK-Bhole.pdf
The problem exhibits in the page which shows a screenshot of "Thermostat"
(I think it's Page 4, I could be wrong).
Only ePDF shows the empty bitmap.
My ePDF shows version "ePDFView 0.1.8"
TIA
FC
PS: Is it me or the project page at "Emma's Software", authors of ePDF is
gone? trac.*emma*-soft.com
I wonder if the project is dead?
PS2: Ubuntu shows they have version 0.1.8-3
