Anyone got three monitors working?

Howdy All -
I have Gigabyte EP43-UD3L motherboard with a single PCI Express 2.0 x16
slot. It currently has a decent NVidia card - a GeForce 7300 GT. I've
got two monitors attached, one via the VGA port and one via the digital
video port. It works well, I get accelerated X and wobbly windows and
all that silliness. Guilty pleasure: I like eye candy.
I'd *really* love to do triple head - the monitor in front of me for my
main work, and the two side screens for supporting stuff.
I am wondering, since my motherboard has a four PCI Express x1 ports and
I see PCI Express x1 video cards for decent prices, if I can either
replace my single card with two identical two-port X1 cards, or just add
a single X1 video card to what I already have and get triple head.
Has anyone done this?
Thomas

The death of Hibernate?
by Geoffrey Leach
It appears that among some kernel maintainers there's an opinion that
the hibernate (suspend to disk) capability is of insufficient interest
to users to justify the difficulty of maintenance. See
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=781749
Will anyone for whom hibernate is important please add a
note to the bug report, so that the maintainers will know that their
efforts are much appreciated?
Thanks.

Sata device in a USB docking station problems.
by George R Goffe
Hi,
I'm having a bit of a problem with some SATA drives in docking stations connected to USB ports.
The problem seems to be unrelated to heavy I/O and occurs randomly. Once, without the drive even being mounted.
Here's a sample of output from /var/log/messages:

I also have made a couple of bug reports which appear to be getting no attention.
[Bug 802607] New: reset high-speed USB device (sata drive and USB connection)
I've started loosing data now.
Does anyone have any clues?
The system is running FC 16 x86_64 fully up to date. The problem has persisted across several kernels including the current kernel.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
George...

is fvwm orphaned in F17?
by Ranjan Maitra
Hi,
I have filed a couple of BZ requests over the past year suggesting a
move to the stable branch of fvwm (even second digit: 2.6.4) instead
of the developmental (odd second digit: 2.5.30) and never got even an
acknowledgment. I noticed also that fvwm is not in rawhide? Does this
mean that this is (being) orphaned?
Many thanks and best wishes,
Ranjan

XFCE Login Freeze
by Jonathan Allen
Hi list,
We have a multi-workstation network, with several nodes running F16/XFCE
on remote-mounted home directories. All users can log in and out without
any difficulty except one. This user gives name and password but then
freezes indefinitely. 'ps' shows a variety of tasks running, but nothing
appears on screen except the standard wallpaper; time is present but
nothing else. Running are startxfce, xfce-session, etc. User can be
cleared by "kill -15 <startxfce-pid> and other users can log then log in.
What might be causing the freeze - is there some lockfile that needs
removing to unlock the user's account?

Japanese keyboard: Fedora 15 KDE
by jonetsu
Hello all,
I've seen a few softwares around to have some kind of keyboard able
to either input romanji based (hiragana based ?) characters or to draw
kanji, but these software seems to be age-old and not maintained
anymore, like anthy. What is the preferred way to be able to use
Japanese characters in Fedora 15 with KDE ?
Thanks.

Printing advice
by Roelof 'Ben' Kusters
Would anyone be able to advise me regarding what printer to buy?
Requirements are:
- Can print A3 (29.7 x 42 cm, 11.6 x 16.5 inch) (and A4) sized paper.
- Scores 'good' on a price/quality ratio; meaning not
super-high-professional-quality but good enough for a small office where
the primary function is NOT printing; for the office that is, the
printer's primary function is obvious... :D
- Is supported by Fedora. I have (good) experiences with Epson and HP, but
I am hoping for some input from people with (more) experience.

lost ability to play .wav files after recent updates
by dave perry
Hi,
For the last week, I get the following error message in either
MoviePlayer or Rhythmbox when I try to play .wav files.
The following plugins are required:
* GStreamer element ffmpegcolorspace
* GStreamer element audioresample
According to my search on the net, both are provided by
gstreamer-plugins-base rpm.
yum says I have the most recent version of this rpm.
# yum install gstreamer-plugins-base
Loaded plugins: langpacks, presto, refresh-packagekit
Package gstreamer-plugins-base-0.10.35-3.fc16.x86_64 already installed
and latest version
Nothing to do
Since I could play these .wav files in either program a few weeks ago,
it appears something broke with the last update.
Any help is appreciated.
