kernel 3.3.0.8 problem
by Andrew Gray
Hi
The kernel 3.3.0.-8 x86_64 is falling to ask me for the system
encryption password, just says it can't fine root_fs !!
Having to use the previous 3.3.0-4 x86_64 kernel that does ask for
system encryption key.

[OT] 2006 motherboard vs 2012 DVD burner
by Michael Hennebry
I have a 2006 motherboard, D865GBFL,
attached to an internal DVD burner that doesn't.
Are new internal DVD burners electrically
compatible with my motherboard?

moving /tmp to RAM on f17
by patrick korsnick
A common tweak recommended to SSD users on various distros has been to move
/tmp to RAM to avoid writing to the SSD. Adding this line to /etc/fstab has
worked fine for me on f16:
none /tmp tmpfs defaults 0 0
However on f17 adding this line prevents the machine from booting.
Can anyone enlighten me if it's possible to do something similar on f17 to
save wear on my SSD?
Thanks!

Incorrect charge indications
by Fedora User
This first appeared in Kernel 3.3.0-4.fc16.x86_64 and persists through
3.3.0-8.fc16.x86_64.
I have a vanilla Intel i5 based laptop with one battery. Power data used
to come from /proc/acpi/battery but I don't have that file.
The KDE applet displays, on hover, that the adaptor is plugged in,
Battery 0 is 100% charged; Battery 1 is 33% charged and discharging.
While plugged in, this is trivial. However, unplugged and it changes
the overall charge percentages for power management.
I cannot file a bug report until I know if this is a KDE or kernel
issue. I cannot know that without identifying the /proc file that
displays battery status. I cannot find that file.

How to change network address ?
by Bob Goodwin
I need to change the address of this computer temporarily to a
192.168.2.? instead of 192.168.1.9 to connect to a device that I
reset.
There used to be a menu that I used for this but with F16/XFCE I
am lost.
Would someone be kind enough to tell me how to do this?

sugar-desktop group? (idle question)
by Joel Rees
Not a really important question, but does anyone know why
sugar-desktop doesn't show when you do a yum grouplist?
(I suppose I should get back on the sugar lists.)

by Luc MAIGNAN
Hi,
I've seutp a PPTPD daemon to let an external iPad access to my network
via a tunnel.
All seem to work fine.
But I wonder if it is enough secure ?
I force 128 bits encryption.
Is there any security problem for this configuration ?
Thanks for any help

Hello,
Machine: Lenovo Thinkpad x220 plus MS Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000
(both about 3 months old)
uname -srov: Linux 3.3.0-4.fc16.x86_64 #1 SMP Tue Mar 20 18:05:40 UTC
2012 GNU/Linux
Desktop: Gnome 3
Problem: When I suspend (by closing the lid) the suspend LED starts
blinking as usual but never stops.
Power switch is the only option. If I do not use the
Bluetooth Mouse there is no problem and
machine suspends normally. Note: X200 Bluetooth radio
is still on just the mouse is off.
With kernel 3.2.9-2 (just choosing it from the initial
grub menu) this problem does not occur.
I removed the mouse from the Bluetooth configuration and re-paired it to
no avail.
Any suggestions about what I might check next would be appreciated.
Actually, if nothing else, just how to make 3.2.9-2 the default kernel
until this situation passes would be nice.
thanks,
Roger Wells
