Hi Paulo,
Unfortunately I don't know anyone with that hardware. I found this
discussion which you might find helpful
http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/t/19382036.aspx.
It looks like booting with acpi=off or acpi-noirq helped. Sorry I couldn't
be of more help. Good luck,

Mike
Hello Mike !!!
YES ... BINGO... Great Mike. Thanks, thanks, thanks...
The solution to my problem is "acpi=off" kernel parameter.
I installed the Fedora-15-x86_64 on my Dell XPS-15z and it is working FINE.
Please Mike tell that to the people that use Dell XPS like me.
Great Mike... Thank you so much again man... Bye.

F15 Upgrade kernel won't run.
by linux guy
My computer will not boot the F15 kernel after doing a preupgrade. Nothing
happens when the boot process usually starts running. Not a single line of
startup is displayed on the screen.
This happens both if I run preupgrade or preupgrade-cli.
Everything seems to go fine during the preupgrade process. All the files
download and run fine, no errors or anything.
Other kernels on the computer boot fine.
Its like it can't find one of the boot files.
Any ideas ?
Thanks !

What tool shows /proc/net/nf_conntrack
by Sam Varshavchik
I forwarded a port, using system-config-firewall.
The destination machine, not surprisingly, shows the IP address of the
firewall as the source of the connection. The goal is obtaining the
connection's real source IP. However, on the firewall the forwarded
connection isn't reported anywhere by netstat or ss.
After poking around, I found what I was looking for in
/proc/net/nf_conntrack. The forwarded connection was listed there, showing
the connection's real source IP.
But grepping through /proc/net/nf_conntrack seems to be rather quaint.
Neither netstat's nor ss's man page hint at any option that would report on
/proc/net/nf_conntrack in some user-friendly fashion. Is there some other
admin utility that does?

How to make yum download srpms too?
by Fernando Cassia
Is there any way to make yum also download srpms for every downloaded (and
installed) rpm?.
I just want to keep a repository of source files needed to build a system in
any given state it currently is. For instance, I can download the srpms for
the base system, but as time passes, the system will auto-download security
fixes and other app updates... I'd love the srpms for each to be downloaded
automagically and placed in, say /home/userX/source-updates/
how would you approach this? is it needed to patch yum? or RPM? or maybe
there's an existing mechanism to accomplish this?
Thanks in advance...

Embedded PDF in Firefox
by Matthew Saltzman
I have mozplugger-1.14.2-1.fc15.x86_64 installed (so I can run 32-bit
Flash with 64-bit Firefox). Mozplugger also is supposed to support
embedding PDF displays in a Firefox tab with evince or Adobe Reader, but
in my browser, following a link to a PDF results in a window with blank
content.
I've tried with a personal .mozplugger/mozpluggerrc containing:
application/pdf: pdf: PDF file
application/x-pdf: pdf: PDF file
text/pdf: pdf: PDF file
text/x-pdf: pdf: PDF file
application/x-postscript: ps: PostScript file
application/postscript: ps: PostScript file
repeat noisy swallow(evince) fill: evince "$file"
I've also tried without that, using the default /etc/mozplugger, which
contains:
### Acrobat Reader
define(ACROREAD, [repeat swallow(acroread) fill : acroread -openInNewWindow /a "
$fragment" "$file"])
...
application/pdf:pdf:PDF file
application/x-pdf:pdf:PDF file
text/pdf:pdf:PDF file
text/x-pdf:pdf:PDF file
ACROREAD()
repeat noisy swallow(kpdf) fill: kpdf "$file"
repeat noisy swallow(Xpdf) fill: xpdf -g +9000+9000 "$file"
repeat noisy swallow(okular) fill: okular "$file"
repeat noisy swallow(epdfview) fill: epdfview "$file"
GV()
repeat noisy fill exits: evince "$file"
This has been going on for at least a few versions of Firefox and maybe
other relevant packages as well. I currently have Adobe Reader
installed, but I get the same result if I uninstall it.
Any idea what I've got wrong? If I can't get embedded display working,
how do I fall back to opening a separate window?
TIA.

umount external devices
by François Patte
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Bonjour,
If I plug an usb HD with multiple partitions on it, I can see onmy desk
as many icons as the number of partitions.
If I ask to unmount one of them (right click on the icon and using the
menu "eject") all the partitions are unmounted. Is this a normal behaviour?
Is there a possibility to unmount the partitions one by one?
Thanks.
PS: I use f14

F14 locks up during graphical login into KDE
by linux guy
Hi people.
My F14 system is hanging during graphical login/boot into KDE. The mouse
becomes intermittent and then it freezes.
However, if I start a CLI session before it hangs, the CLI session runs
fine.
The machine will NOT shut down properly. It hangs during shutdown. It
looks like one or more processes won't stop properly.
I believe this started happening after running yum update yesterday during
which I noted that a new nvidia driver was installed. I am running the
proprietary nvidia driver, not nouveau. (Ducks !)
Any ideas why this is happening ? Anyone else having the same problem ?
Thanks !

Routing problems
by mike
I am trying to set up a Fedora 14 as a router between two different net
works.
I have the following iptables set up:
[root@faker ~]# iptables -A INPUT --source 10.21.144.0/24 --destination
10.16.2.1
[root@faker ~]# iptables -A INPUT --source 10.16.2.0/24 --destination
10.21.144.1
[root@faker ~]# iptables --list
Chain INPUT (policy ACCEPT)
target prot opt source destination
all -- 10.21.144.0/24 10.16.2.1
all -- 10.16.2.0/24 10.21.144.1
Chain FORWARD (policy ACCEPT)
target prot opt source destination
Chain OUTPUT (policy ACCEPT)
target prot opt source destination
I cannot get two devices on the two net works to ping. I have the
Active Controllers on one Network and the Slave Devices on the other.
I am trying to mimic a real world setup in a Lab and am at a loss. I
have had no trouble setting up NAT's but, the situation I am trying to
emulate does not allow for a NAT.
My hair is already gray but I might start losing it!
