Google Chrome browser and Kwallet
by Peter G.
I just nstalled Google Chrome to test it. Immediately, it asked to open
Kwallet. I allowed it, and then I thought... Yikes! Should I have done that?
Why does Google chrome need to see the contents of Kwallet even before I have
visited a web site and while all I am doing is configuring it? Is it looking at
other stuff I have stored in my wallet?

Subversion and GNOME keyring
by Matthew Saltzman
Does anyone know if the bug that prevented Subversion from working with
the GNOME keyring has been fixed? I still have subversion configured to
prompt for a password, but that's just as annoying as it used to be.
TIA.

PPA 1158 eSATA + USB pcmcia card
by JD
Manufacturer claims that it was tested successfully against
kernel 2.6.32.
I read a couple of blogs of windows users dissing this card.
My laptop has not usb 2.0. Only 1.1.
I have a pcmcia card with 2 eSATA ports, one of which I use
for my external HD.
The PPA 1158
http://ppa-usa.com/computer-products/sata/pcmcia-combo-usb-2-0-and-sata-c...
provides 2 eSATA (Version 1) ports and 2 USB 2.0 ports.
I would like to buy it so I can use my external drive and connect
usb 2.0 devices to it.
Has anyone had experience with this card on any Linux version?
P.S: I had tried a card from Syba with 1 eSATA port and 3 USB ports.
It locks up Fedora AND windows during boot. Tried 2 of them. Same
lock up.
Thanx

F15 libvirt net-edit will not use static dhcp addresses for dnsmasq
by Deron Meranda
In Fedora 15 I'm trying to set up statically-assigned DHCP addresses
for virtual machine domains, but libvirt does not pass this on to
dnsmasq.
I tried to edit the network xml definition file using
# virsh -c qemu:///system net-edit vmnet
I changed it from this:
<network>
<name>vmnet</name>
<uuid>d27e8fa9-d358-b505-fc7b-4fb0ec0e7c4f</uuid>
<forward dev='eth0' mode='nat'/>
<bridge name='virbr1' stp='on' delay='0' />
<ip address='192.168.4.1' netmask='255.255.255.0'>
<dhcp>
<range start='192.168.4.128' end='192.168.4.254' />
</dhcp>
</ip>
</network>
by adding a couple <host> elements, into this:
<network>
<name>vmnet</name>
<uuid>d27e8fa9-d358-b505-fc7b-4fb0ec0e7c4f</uuid>
<forward dev='eth0' mode='nat'/>
<bridge name='virbr1' stp='on' delay='0' />
<ip address='192.168.4.1' netmask='255.255.255.0'>
<dhcp>
<range start='192.168.4.128' end='192.168.4.254' />
<host mac='52:54:00:e8:dc:ee' name='aaa.example.com' ip='192.168.4.32' />
<host mac='52:54:00:22:6c:5c' name='bbb.example.com' ip='192.168.4.33' />
</dhcp>
</ip>
</network>
After saving the file I do get the message
"Network vmnet XML configuration edited."
However, if I immediately net-edit it again, the <host> elements are
not there as if I had not changed it.
This also has the effect that the dnsmasq daemon is started without
having any of the command line options of "--dhcp-host" or
"--dhcp-hostsfile". Which means that the virtual domains do not
receive static IP addresses.
Also of note, when using net-edit if I also try to change anything
else, such as the dhcp start ip address, it too will get reverted back
after I save it.
Does anybody know what I may be doing wrong?
The package version is libvirt-0.8.8-4.fc15.x86_64
Thanks.

Re: backup copy of F14 boots, but can't login

No

Dan,
you are responding to my initial response
to you and Lamar Owen, where I was freaking out
over having to deal with selinux.
Since then I have followed Lamar's advice,
" touch /.autorelabel, reboot",
and that fixed my main problem, my backupF14 now
is no longer caught in that endless login recycle.
See my later replies in this thread.
I had first tried your advice
"restorecon -R -v /home"
without effect,
allthough that was done from my mainF14
operating on the mounted backupF14 /home.
I have no idea if that should make a difference or not.
If the latter is not an issue,
it then appears to me that Lamar's response to your advice
is correct:
> from: Lamar Owen
>> restorecon -R -v /home
>If only /home needs relabeling, that is true.
>However, if /home is backed up without the correct contexts,
> the rest of the system likely has context problems.....
With regard to
" backed up without the correct contexts"
I have no doubt that was the case, because I was unaware
of any need for, or how to implement, "correct contexts" .
I used an rsync-based backup tool (rbu, Vincent Stemen)
on all dirs under /,
leaving out /proc, /sys, /mnt, /media, /opt
thanks for response

intel 5100 wifi card problem
by Hüvely Balázs
Hi All!
I have a big and old problem with my toshiba satellite notebook's wifi.
The original wifi card was a realtek, which is always freezed, so after
a few months I decided to replace that card to an intel one. I searched
the net for full supported wifi card, and I found that intel wifi link
5100 will be the good choice for linux.
I get the interface, installed to my computer, and everything was fine
for a little time.
Now my problem is the card after few minutues or an hour hangs on. I
tried to associate the card again to my AP, but no success. I look after
for my dmesg, and here below my results:

Is there any workaround or fix for my card?
Additional info, my card is placed my notebook sorrounded by pastic
parts, and there is no possibility to cool down the interface. Maybe
it's overheated.
Any suggestion? How I will able to use this card normally?

twm on F15
by Hiisi
Is it possible to run twm on fedora 15?
I can't find anything on it in documentation. The only link I've found
so far is this:
http://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/Fedora/12/html/Deployment_Guide/s2-x-...
It's outdated and doesn't work. I did the following:
became root and run init 3
then xinit -e /usr/bin/twm
After that there was an error from X-server about usb-configuration
and then it halted.
TIA
