Files named in Chinese characters couldn't display properly in Fedora 12
by Quan Qiu
I installed fedora 12 (English version) on a Dell R300 server, as well as
SVN and Trac, after I imported files into Linux, all files named in Chinese
became black squares or question marks when listing them, and there were
additional strings "invalid encoding" attached after each filename. In
addition, Chinese font in Firefox looks not pretty, some are big, and some
are small.
I installed cjkuni-fonts, cjkunifonts-uming fonts, and also setup locale to
zh_CN.UTF8, but it didn't get me any luck.
Could anyone help me with this? I appreciate any response.

bonding and ip aliasing together possible?
by Robert Arkiletian
Has anyone successfully created a bonded interface (bond0) with say
two nics AND also then aliased that interface to get bond0 and bond0:1
(for an alias ip)
I just want to know if it's possible and reliable.

TVTime loses focus after installing F13
by Bill Case
Hi;
I have a Hauppauge WinTv-HVR 1800 tuner with an analog Cable TV (NTSC -
Canada). In F12 I received a near perfect video picture from my cable
TV. In F13, the picture is black and white with various degrees of
interference lines depending on the tv channel.
I have played with (used) TVTime quite a bit in the last 3 or 4 years so
I am familiar with all the menu settings and the configuration file. No
matter what I try, I can't get the proper reception back.
I still have no analog sound for this tuner, but I see that as a
separate Alsa problem.
Any suggestions as to what I might be overlooking or might have
mis-configured with the video?

Anaconda is insisting on installing TigerVNC-Server for dependencies
by Claude Jones
I removed tigervnc-server the other day to install RealVNC
enterprise. I noticed while removing tigervnc that it also
uninstalled Anaconda which seemed very strange. I just tried to
reinstall Anaconda and it wants to reinstall Tigervnc-server for
dependencies, but, if I try to do that, it conflicts with RealVNC
server - anyone else seeing this?
This is on Fedora 13 x64 with all the latest updates

Yum Upgrade 11-12 dependency problem with ksysguardd?
by Tod Thomas
I've upgraded two other machines without a problem. On the third one I
get to the end of the dependency check and this appears:
...

You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem
You could try running: package-cleanup --problems
package-cleanup --dupes
rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest
I've tried the package-cleanup suggestions, no joy. I tried
--skip-broken, that didn't work either. yum update
kdebase-workspace-4.3.2-1.fc12.i686 gives a dependency error on
ksysguardd, yum install ksysguardd-4.3.2-1.fc12.i686 says its already
installed. So I'm stuck at this point and I don't want to reinstall.
Any ideas?

Hard disk trouble
by Ankur Sinha
hi,
I've plugged in my harddisk via a SATA/IDE to USB converter to my
laptop. The device is created as /dev/sdb, but fdisk -l or parted,
gparted do not show it as a drive.
Here's the dmesg output:
> scsi8 : usb-storage 1-2:1.0
> scsi 8:0:0:0: Direct-Access USB TO I DE/SATA Device 0041 PQ: 0 ANSI: 0
> sd 8:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg3 type 0
> sd 8:0:0:0: [sdc] Attached SCSI disk
How do I access my drive? I intend to format it etc. and then set up
fedora 13 on it.

Thanks!

bonded nic not starting at boot
by Will Yonker
Hello all,
I am running fedora 12 and have two bonded
interfaces. Everything works fine if I manually start my bonded
interface (bond0). It also works fine if I put (ifup bond0) in
/etc/rc.d/rc.local. However, it refuses to start on boot otherwise
and rc.local is kinda late in the boot sequence. Things that require
the network to be running become very unhappy.
NM is not
running so that can not be interfering. I have three systems all
using Intel NICs but otherwise different hardware. They are all
having this issue. What am I missing (ID 10 T error probably)?
As always, any help would be appreciated.
Here is some system
