mplayer fullscreen width and height
by Dj YB
Hello,
whenever I toggle fulldcreen in mplayer the video is scaled so that the height
of the video fit the screen, thus cropping some of the video since the with of
the screen is smaller then the scaled video with.
how can I tell mplayer to scale the video to fit the smaller dimension of the
screen (or something like that) so that the image wont get cropped.
Thanks,
YB.

Weird Network Manager Problem
by mike
This all started with a power out crash thanks to my Electrical
Company. After power came back up I could not access the server via the
network.
When I first got to the console I could not log in as root nor could if
do an "su" as my user log in. Using Webmin via localhost I found the
password hosed but I was able to reset the password via Webmin and after
a reboot I could log in as root.
I then found I could not ping my static IP from inside or outside.
Using the GUI at System/Administration/Network and checking the
Interface settings they were correct. If I hit the DNS tab or the Hosts
tab I found bogus information. I changed it back to the correct info
and did a save followed by a Stop/Start on the interface and gave
control back to Network Manager.
After a reboot the bogus info had returned! I could only ping from the
inside the bogus IP address and of course could not ping it from the
outside! So I manually went to /etc/hosts and corrected the bogus info
that had a note "Added by Network Manager".
I also check /etc/resolv.conf and corrected the bogus DNS info.
I checked /etc/sysconfig/networking/devices/ifcfg-eth0 and the info
there was correct.
Reboot and all the bogus info is back, all with the "Added by Network
Manager" caveat!
Beat the bushes as well as I can I can find no info as to where Network
Manage conf files might be named and or located!
Anyone have any idea where they are or am I just going to have to kill
Network Manager?
This one is weird!

Weird Network Manager Problem (Updated)
by mike
JB,
I figured you or someone else might like to know this. I killed the dhc
process and cleaned up the .conf files did a restart on Network Manage
and everything worked!
Ran chkrootkit and it hit on netstat as Infected (imagine that). It
also reported a possible LKM Trojan intrusion. I then ran rkhunter and
it threw warnings on the following files:
/bin/netstat
/bin/ps
/usr/bin/top
/usr/bin/lsof
It also reported undocumented password change and group file changes.
Password I could see with me going through Webmin to reset the root
password but, I was careful to change nothing else much less groups!
I rebooted and the problem was back just as before!
With that I threw up my hands and have WipeDrive going on the drives in
DoD mode!
Hope this might help someone!
Again thanks for the help!

Mapping Key for keyboard with no regular insert key?
by Michael D. Setzer II
Got some labs that have Logitec Internet keyboards that for some reason
don't have an insert key above the regular arrow keys. For some reason it
has a large delete key?
With most programs one can turn off num lock and use that insert key, but
had the windows tn5250 program that would not, so had to come up with a
reg hack, and mapped the context menu button next to Ctrl on Rigth to
Insert.
Was looking to do something similar for something similar for linux, since
machines also have Fedora 12.
Thanks.

Enabling Airport wireless on Macbook Air with F12
by Colin Paul Adams
Thanks to Chris Smart, Peter Danenberg and others, I have been able to
install Fedora 12 as the sole O/S on my Macbook Air (first
generation).
However the wirless networking is not enabled.
I am following the instructions in
http://docs.fedoraproject.org/wireless-guide/f12/en-US/html-single/#chap-... .
There was no wireless device shown in the network Configuration, so I
clicked New and added a device for hardware Apple Airport.
I also tried adding wireless device on the Hardware tab (eth0), but although
it allows me to do this, after I save and then reopen the Network
Configuration, the hardware only shows a device pan0 of Type Ethernet
(which was there from the start). It does appear on the Devices tab
(it didn't originally until I added it), but has staus of inactive,
and no means to activate it.
However, even after restarting the computer, the wireless icon on the
panel says there are no network devices available.
So I tried removing the device from control by NetworkManager, and
activated it manually. But then I get:
Device eth0 does seem to be present, delaying initalization.
What do I need to do?

Weird Network Manager Problem (On Hold)
by mike
Thanks for the info JB. I have that printed out and will try the two
programs before I do anything else.
The Fedora machine is my Hobby machine and does not affect my wife's
business in any way so I can afford to take some time to research.
However like you the root password getting hosed leads me to think that
I did get hacked so I do not trust this install anymore.
Immediately after the testing it is going away!
Thanks for the Help!
