How to install the LibreOffice beta 3 rpm package
by David Nelson
Hi, :-)
There is a download of LibreOffice 3.3 beta 3 at:
http://download.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/testing/3.3.0-beta3/rp...
There are no instructions about how to install it, and I want to draft
a how-to to be included with the download.
However, I'm an Ubuntu user and I'm not familiar with installing rpm's
any more. Could anyone help me out with precise instructions for
Fedora Core so that the LibO community's newbie users have chance of
success?
To provide a framework, here are the instructions applicable to Debian Ubuntu:
"1) When you unpack the downloaded archive, you will see that the
contents have been decompressed into a directory called "en-US". Open
a terminal window, and change directory to the "en-US" directory.
2) The "en-US" directory contains a subdirectory called "DEBS". Change
directory to the directory "DEBS".
3) Then run this command (you will be prompted to enter your root
user's password):
sudo dpkg -i *.deb
4) dpkg does the first part of the installation process. Now change
directory to the "desktop-integration" directory that is within the
"DEBS" directory. Run the dpkg command again:
sudo dpkg -i *.deb
The installation process is now completed, and you should have icons
for all the LibreOffice applications in your Applications/Office
menu."
Could someone edit the above instructions to work for Fedora Core? A
big thanks in advance for any help... ;-)

Warning: Cannot open ConsoleKit session:
by Tom Murray
I am currently running Fedora Release 13 (Goddard). After
installing the httpd package, I continue to get the following
error when logging into the KDE login manager with my user account:
Warning: Cannot open ConsoleKit session: Unable to open session. The name
org.freedesktop.ConsoleKit was not provided by any .service files.
After acknowledging the error, it resets back to the login manager
screen. If I login with root, I get the same message, but it
continues on and logins into the session. I have the
/etc/selinux/config set to SELINUX=disabled.
Any ideas, would be greatly appreciated.

Distributing a Fedora appliance
by Fernando Cassia
Are there any restrictions, for ditributing a pre-installed Fedora VM
appliance (for Virtualbox)?
I´d like to do one (in fact, I´ve already done one, just not
distributed it), centered around Java, with OpenJDK presinstaled, the
IcedTea plug-ins, and other apps pre-installed like jEdit.
Second questions: suppose I like to include in such VM a "freeware"
(not open source) application, made available by a third party (a Java
based bitmap editor). Suppose I get written permission for the
copyright owner to include such application inside the VM. Do I need
to ask anybody else for permission?.
Thanks in advance for any comments....

FC13 yum problem -- GPG
by Tony Foster
I could use some help.
I updated to FC13 from FC11 using a new disc I added to system.
System now crashes and locks up when it goes into suspend state.
not responsive to keyboard or front panel of computer without hard
reset. When I boot FC11 all is still fine.
I tried to run update assuming this was a problem in the distro but
Yum dies because of GPG signatures for some rpmfusion packages.
I am trying to find data on how to get the GPG data for the rpmfusion
repository. I tried yum man pages and repo man pages.
How the heck do you get gpg data for a repository.
I could just edit the yum.config to remove the repo but that would leave
some packages I wanted hanging and some of them may be effecting the
suspend problem.

sed with several lines, how?
by Arthur Bela
hyphen's [ - ] are just for marking the start/end of a pattern, but
there are _not in_ the pattern!
"OUTPUT" is what i want after "seding" the PATTERN#X's
so i for e.g.: need the first, and second "magic"
sed "FIRSTMAGIC" PATTERN#1
sed "SECONDMAGIC" PATTERN#2
PATTERN#1:
-----------------------------------
SOMETEXT#1
<br><font size=3>SOMETEXT#2</font><br>
<br><font size=3>SOMETEXT#3</font><br>
SOMETEXT#4
-----------------------------------
"exact pattern", what is unique from the pattern:
-----------------------------------
</font><br>\n<br><font size=3>
-----------------------------------
OUTPUT:
-----------------------------------
SOMETEXT#1
<br><font size=3>SOMETEXT#3</font><br>
SOMETEXT#4
-----------------------------------
and:
PATTERN#2:
-----------------------------------
SOMETEXT#1
<br><font size=3>SOMETEXT#2</font><br>
</font></div></body></html>
SOMETEXT#3
-----------------------------------
"exact pattern", what is unique from the pattern:
-----------------------------------
</font><br>\n</font></div></body></html>
-----------------------------------
OUTPUT:
-----------------------------------
SOMETEXT#1
</font></div></body></html>
SOMETEXT#3
-----------------------------------
i just can't figure it out, how to "sed" when having several lines
[nor in awk, perl..]
could anyone post a link, or some guide, how to write these two lines of "sed"?
Thank You! :\
