OK. Thanks for replaying. I'll try the script. And it's a good
proposition about PtP. I'll check it in case the script won't work
magically.

Root Login
by Smith, Herb
All,
This may be a dumb question, but I noticed that with my upgrade to FC10,
the login page no longer allows me to login as root. I'm sure this is a
feature, but the question is, how does one login as root these days? I
can still su to root in a command window, no problem.
TIA,
Herb

burn dot-files??
by Beartooth
I've installed Eeebuntu Base to an EeePC 701 and installed Alpine
2.0 (the only mailer I give a shrivelled electron for). I want to add
the .pinerc, and the .addressbook that I've been tweaking since before
AOL or the Web; but nothing I can find today by way of a diskburner seems
even to see dot files.
Do I have to use scp over my LAN?? Icould swear I've done it both
ways before now ...

Problem booting CentOS 5.2 machine
by John Aldrich
I have a CentOS 5.2 machine that is refusing to get past starting the
System Message Bus. This machine is tied into an Active Directory as a test
mail server. A little Googling shows that it's somehow related to being
unable to talk to the LDAP server. How do I figure out what's causing the
problem? Yesterday before rebooting the server, I downloaded and installed
a newer version of NMAP on it, and suddenly yesterday, shortly after I
rebooted it, it won't finish booting. As I said, I looked for an answer on
Google and found that it's tied into LDAP, but I'm not sure 1) what is
causing the problem and 2) how to solve it.
Can someone here please provide some help? I'm not exactly a linux newbie,
but I am new to tieing linux into Active Directory.

How to (manually) create a bootable loop-mounted fedora?
by Jiason Li
Hi all,
I'm new to the list,
thus any info/suggestions are pretty appreciated,
thank you. :D
What I'm going to do is to (manually) create a bootable loop-mounted fedora,
just like the wubi version of ubuntu.
Now here comes the question:
What steps should I take to achieve this goal?
e.g.:
1. create a disk image mirroring of the whole fedora installation.
2. then...? create an initrd capable of doing the tricks (to mount the
loop image) maybe?
3. if so, how?
ps.
if possible,
a rw loop image solution is preferred than a squashfs+unionfs solution.
I know this may not be so simple,
but any guide/direction/info from you and/or fedora dev may help.
thank you for your time. :D
sincerely,
jiason

Some observation/suggestion in rawhide
by Sachin
Hi
Suggestion
1) There should be option called --size in yum which restrict the space
which be used yum. This would be beneficial to machine with low disk space.
2) If firefox 3.1beta is default then please have
extensions.checkCompatibility=false
3) Shutdown splash screen
4) ext4 in grub
Observation:
1) Why logout is available at two different place a) under system b) In
panel under name
2) Preference menu list is too long
Thanks for the great work.
Regards,
Sachin.
