Evolution GPG signing with attachments
by Christoph Höger
Hi all,
did anybody else notice a enormous lag when sending signed emails with
attachments since f12?
For a 500k attachment it now takes about 20s to sign and send an email -
on a decent machine.
This seems to be definitely to much time. Were there any changes to the
gpg chain?

error msgs during today's kernel update

doing today's updates gives this during the kernel update:

W: Possible missing firmware ql2100_fw.bin for module qla2xxx.ko
I think these are wireless bits, no? If so they don't matter to me
since my eeepc 901 has rt286sta, but still I've never seen these
happen in earlier updates, so something looks wrong.

problem with 64-bit guests on VirtualBox after latest updates
by Andre Robatino
After the latest batch of F12 updates, VirtualBox won't run 64-bit
guests anymore, giving the following error message:
VT-x/AMD-V hardware acceleration has been enabled, but is not operational.
Your 64-bit guest will fail to detect a 64-bit CPU and will not be able
to boot.
Please ensure that you have enabled VT-x/AMD-V properly in the BIOS of
your host computer.
I have the Virtualization package group installed. Unloading the
kvm_amd module allows 64-bit guests to run again. Can someone with the
Virtualization group installed who hasn't applied the Dec. 1 updates
check if kvm_amd is loaded? Is this a Fedora bug? If so, which
component, so I can report it?

Unable to fully install the latest on an x86_64.
by William F. Acker WB2FLW +1 303 722 7209
Hi all,
When I install the kernel, I get a message saying that
/usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/bitfrost/__init__.py can't be installed
while making the initrd. A stanza is not placed into grub.conf for the
new kernel. Now to try my 32bit laptop.

Files missing from kernel-PAE-2.6.31.6-145.fc12.i686
by Robert G. (Doc) Savage
I suspect the i686 build of the F12 kernel update (rpm dated Nov 24
16:00 2009) may be broken. I got a bunch of error messages during the
reboot, notably a missing modules.dep. After booting is complete,
networking doesn't work.
When I checked the directory where modules.dep should have been I saw
there are lots of other modules.* files missing:

wine on x86_64 F12
by Neal Becker
I'm not having any luck with wine on x86_64. With the full complement
of wine* installed, nothing much works. Problems seem to be 32 vs. 64
bit issues.
So, I tried removing all wine*.x86_64, leaving the i686. This doesn't
work either.
winecfg
wine: created the configuration directory '/home/nbecker/.wine'
wine: could not exec wineserver
I'm guessing a working wine setup would require grabbing additional i686
packages that are not in the x86_64 repo.
Anyone else looked at this?

where's the GNOME sound recorder?
by Jud Craft
It doesn't seem to be included from my LiveCD installation of Fedora
12. PackageKit returns no queries for "recorder" related to the GNOME
desktop, and of course Multimedia category and "sound" queries are too
large to search manually.
A "yum search sound | grep recorder" also returns nothing.
