B&W Awstats Reports
by elk dolk
Hi all,
I have installed Awstats-6.8 on my Linux PC (FC 9) .I copy access log files from server to
my Linux PC In /var/log directory and the www.mydomain.conf file is in
/etc/awstats directory.
I generate reports in static HTML pages from the command
line in /usr/local/awstats/wwwroot/cgi-bin directory . Everything works fine
but I seem to miss the beautiful icons! they don’t show in my reports. That
means Awstats can not find /icon directory
It is in /usr/local/awstats/wwwroot/icon
In the conf. file I have : DirIcons=”/icon”
There is this comment in the conf. file :
# Relative or absolute web URL of your awstats icon
directory.
# If you build static reports ("... -output >
outputpath/output.html"), enter
# path of icon directory relative to the output directory
'outputpath'.
# Example: "/awstatsicons"
# Example: "../icon"
# Default: "/icon" (means you must copy icon
directories in "/mywwwroot/icon")
can someone tell me where should I put the /icon directory so
that awstats can find it?

Preupgrade on Fedora-7
by Timothy Murphy
I just resurrected an old computer running Fedora-7.
I ran "yum update" and it successfully updated 420 packages,
amounting to 850MB.
But when I yum-installed preupgrade, and then ran preupgrade,
I got the error:
-----------------------------------------------------
[tim@harriet yum.repos.d]$ sudo preupgrade
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/share/preupgrade/preupgrade-gtk.py", line 19, in <module>

File "/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/gtk-2.0/gtk/__init__.py", line 64, in _init
_gtk.init_check()

I didn't really expect preupgrade to upgrade this machine to Fedora-10;
but why is it offered if it doesn't work?

USB ehci_hcd where?
by Peter Boy
I just upgraded my Thinkpad T40p from F9 to F10.
I suffer from the well known USB bug. Each time I connect a memory stick
I get the message
usb 1-4: new high speed USB debice using ehci_hcd ...
hub 1-0:1.0 unable to enumerate USB device on port 4 (repeated)
and device is not mounted.
In F9 I could remove the module ehci_hcd and the stick mounted.
In F10 ehci_hcd is not in the module list. Does someone know what
happend to it and how I can remove it?
Thanks
Peter

Kaffeine does not play divx nor flv videos in F10
by Marcelo Magno T. Sales
Hi,
In F10, neither Kaffeine nor Dragon Player are able to play divx and flv
videos. The sound is played, but not the image. However, KPlayer can
play the same videos.
What can I do to make Kaffeine play theses videos (it did in F9)? I have
xine-lib-extras-freeworld installed.
Thanks,
Marcelo

Losing the network -- why?
by SternData

I was hoping this would get better with F10, but no such luck. For the
last several months, my wireless network just stops. Sometimes it stays
up for days, sometimes for just a few hours. The system tray gadget
shows a red X. I can restart the network with 'service network
restart', but I can't find any errors in any log files indicating why
the network stopped in the first place. The card uses the standard ath5K
modules -- nothing "exotic".
kernel is

Yum F9 --> F10, still old F9 packages
by Colin Brace
Hi all,
For reasons I don't entirely understand, neither preupgrade nor the DVD
worked for me, so I ended up upgrading from F9 to F10 by means of yum.
Now I have enabled the rpmfusion repos, but I can't upgrade the relevent
packages from that repo as there is a dependency problem with the F9 version
of avidemux installed: an older x264 library. When I try to delete avidemux
using RPM, the latter hangs every time, and I have to kill it in a second
terminal.
Any tricks for getting rid of stubborn old packages?
The command 'package-cleanup --orphans' (from yum utils) indicates there are
a couple hundred fc9 packages still on my system, but doesn't offer a way of
removing them. Is there some other way of getting rid of them in one
operation?
Also, w.r.t rpmfusion, yum keeps quitting with an error message some but not
all of the time:
"Error: Cannot find a valid baseurl for repo: rpmfusion-free"
Anyone else seeing this?
Thanks.

F10: no dpms default?
by Tom Horsley
Here's an oddity: After switching to f10 I noticed my
monitor was never turning off. I checked "xset q" and
it says the dpms settings are "0 0 0" (which disables
dpms).
Anyway, I've put a "xset dpms 0 0 600" in my startup
scripts and should be OK now, but I'm not sure why
the default seems to be different.
(Perhaps something to do with not running either gnome
or KDE, but I wasn't running them on F8 either and still
got dpms turning off the monitor).

fresh installation F10 fails
by Peter Lesterhuis
On a new box with Vista pre-installed I want to also install F10. I want
to have a dual boot system.
I have done this an couple of times before so I was surprised to see it
fail. In Vista I made the partition shrink and created a new one. I then
put the F10 installation-DVD in the machine and rebooted. The DVD
started spinning as expected. The question to check the media came up.
After the message that anaconda was running the screen fell blank and
the installation process stopped. I rebooted several times, every time
with the same result. The same happened when I inserted the F10-live cd.
Finally I inserted the Knoppix live cd; after a short while there was a
message that it was looking for the installation-DVD, but it could not
find it. A lot of devices ran over the screen, like "/dev/scd0
/dev/scd1" etc. The device with the DVD was not found.
I never had this problem before.
Can't the installer mount the dvd-device?
Does anyone have a suggestion?
Peter
