I think yum itself should resolve the dependencies.
Any advice welcome.

Three things:
>How are you running this DOS program under Linux? Have you re-compiled,
or are you using something like dosemu, qemu, or wine? As if it's the
latter, you may be able to set LPT1 in the configuration file.
I have been running it under dosbox. The accounting program (which I
have been using since 1987) is a pure DOS program.
Unfortunately, dosbox does not know anything about printer ports.
Wine does not do DOS programs...
I have been completely unable to get dosemu to install and run...the
'freedos' hd image install never works.
>Or you may just find that adding a networked printer and calling it
LPT2 works fine.
And where *exactly* would I call it 'LPT2' (or lpt2'. There seems to be
no correlation between the printer name and the port which it uses...Of
course there is a correlation by none of the config tools make that
visible and I am unable to find any config which sets that out. Both
OS/2 and Winblows make that correlation quite visible....I know it must
exist, the question is where is the damn thing!
>Thirdly, Unix filenames can be "fifo"s or "named pipes". In your case,
you could set up a program to read anything that came from the fifo,
print to the filename, and the data would be set to the waiting program.
I haven't tested this fully, but something like
rm /tmp/fifo # make sure there's nothing already there
mkfifo /tmp/fifo
lp -d printername </tmp/fifo & # & keeps the lp command running
~/dos/program.exe
should allow you to "print" a file to /tmp/fifo and have them come out
where you want.
This has possibilities. I will try it with a fifo called 'lpt2....
One other, fairly obvious thing: please remember to change the subject
line back if you're going to respond to a digest? Otherwise your message
gets "lost".
Yeah, noticed that myself....

windowmaker 0.92 crash, WorkspaceSpecificBack
by wwp
Hello,
WindowMaker-0.92.0-8.fc5 installed here, I get a crash at login when
~/GNUstep/Defaults/WindowMaker contains any WorkspaceSpecificBack =
( [snip] ); section. If I remove such section, it works fine.
Can anyone please share its config file (several workspaces w/ background
settings specific to each one needed)?
Regards,

wxMaxima: looking for a volunteer to maintain it
by Paul Smith
Dear All
Not so far ago, wxMaxima was released. wxMaxima is a neat and powerful
GUI for Maxima. See
http://wxmaxima.sourceforge.net/
Unfortunately, the Fedora maintainer of Maxima is not available for
maintaining wxMaxima at the moment, and I have not got the proper
competences to take the job myself. Thus, I am asking here for a
volunteer available to become the Fedora maintainer of wxMaxima.
Thanks in advance,
Paul

Nautilus cannot display windows network?
by Paul Erickson
I have a network of 5 computers which has been working fine until
recently. I have one
FC5 box setup as a samba server, and there are 4 other boxes using
Windows XP or 98.
Findsmb displays all the computers on the network, and the windows
machines can access
the shared files/folders, and can print through the FC box, but when I
try to browse the network
in Gnome, be it through "places>Network Servers>Windows
Network>workgroup, or through
the other gnome network tools, I get the following message:
The folder contents could not be displayed.
Sorry, couldn't display all the contents of "Windows Network: workgroup".
Somehow one of the system updates in the last few days, has mangled
things, and I
am at a loss as to how to troubleshoot it. I have tried google, but so
far haven't been
able to find anything relevant.
I can ping the various boxes, but for some reason Nautilus cannot view
them.
I have the same trouble as user and as root.
Any troubleshooting suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Burning mac os x images using k3b
by Paul F. Johnson
Hi,
Is it possible to burn OS X images using k3b or are they like those
weird things Nero produces which are effectively ISO images with some
garbage on top?

Orbital Laser still down?
by Bruno Wolff III
I was supposed to have 30 seconds of time tonight, but whenever I enter
the coordinates and submit the request I get the message "Unable to schedule
target". I am pretty sure the target should have been visible for at least
another hour at the time I tried this.
The coordinates I was using are:
38:53:55.133N 77:02:15.691W
Should I bugzilla this?
