I'm having trouble booting from the CD
by Tyler
Hello everyone. I have a problem I was hoping someone could help me
with. When I try to boot my Fedora CD I get this message
ISOLINUX 2.06 2003-08-22 isolinux: disk error 01, AX = 4293, 9F
I have no idea what it means or what to do. Any help that someone could
give me would be appreciated.

IBM db2 Express C
by Nat Gross
Has anyone succeeded installing IBM's db2(full version or free express
C version) on Fedora 4? Although I can get by various stages of
installation, its not quite 'there' with the bottom line being that
its unusable on FC4. Someone at the Ibm db2 forum is telling me that
FC4 is too much bleeding edge and that it runs on his CentOS system.
Being with Fedora since FC2, and with kind folks on this list, I don't
want to switch, but I can't resist replacing mySql with a free version
of db2! (Ok, so I can't use more than 4 gig ram. Or quad processors.)
The sorry thing is that it does install, but utilities used to setup
the databases fail.
Anyhow, if anyone has db2 [express C] running on FC4, please gimme a holler.
Thanks;

Just updated my server with todays updates. In addition to the X

Updated FC4 install disk(s)?
by David Niemi
A few months ago there were some messages about an updated version of
the install CDs or the DVD, is this still available from someone's site
or on bittorent?
The June FC4 CDs/DVD do not have adequate support for my motherboard
(Biostar TForce 6100-939) with the nForce-4 chipset so the on-board
network card (RTL8201BL/RTL8201CL) and other things aren't found. FC5-T1
just keeps rebooting after the install too fast to see what the problem
is and I've tried many of the kernel options.
SUSE 10 works great though but I'd rather run Fedora. I'll probably try
FC5-T2 next week if I can't get FC4 installed.
Agreed, I could download all of the base, updates, and extras with SUSE
then do a local yum update with the hobbled FC4 and see if that works.
Thanks for the information / suggestions.

Hotkeys utility for Acer Travelmate
by Deboo ^
Is there a utility available for an Acer Travelmate 2410 series to make the
hotkeys work? Especially the LCD/Monitor switch and the battery status.
There was something like "i810 switch" thing availble for some Sony Vaio
laptops. Is there something similar availble for a travelmate 2410? The
acerhk doesn't compile and still it only would give the keycodes.
Any other utility available, please reply.
Regards,
Deboo

Fedora Core 4 On mini mac
by Hill, Richard D
(sorry if this is the wrong place to post this)
For days I have been trying to install Fedora core 4 (ppc) on my Mini Mac I have repartitioned destroyed partitions etc and every time it errors with ignore or cancel messages about partition blocks I can press ignore and go on but it generally bombs out when it comes to the actual formatting of the new partitions I've defined and the copy of files part , on one occasion it seemed to actually install but on reboot it failed to load kernel image
There is nothing wrong with the hdd I have no issues at all installing tiger back on the Mini Mac , but do what I will it actively refuses to have anything to do with Fedora.
Has anyone else experienced this problem ?
Richard

Never mind....
EDIT -> PREFERENCES -> BEHAVIOR -> Always open in browser window was
unchecked. I checked it and the sidebar is back.

Having to log in is the default; before upgrading you must have
configured autologin yourself.
See the AutomaticLoginEnable and AutomaticLogin keywords (documented at
http://yippi.hypermall.com/gdm/gdm-documentation/x241.html) in
/etc/X11/gdm/gdm.conf to set it up again.
Paul.

I made one mistake in my earlier response . I spoke only about the
cupsd.conf files on the clients. The cupsd.conf file on the server has
an additions line which may or not be required. This line is as
follows:
Listen <server address>
Otherwise the only othe Listen line is:
Listen 127.0.0.1:631

dual head on fedora
by Jim Patterson
I was trying to set up a computer with dual head and install an ATI 9250
AGP card and an ATI 9250 PCI card. When I go to display and select Dual
Head I can setup the card resolution and Color Depth and the monitor,
but even after reboot the second screen still doesn't show anything. It
just stays blank. Is there anything else I should look at.
