Mozilla - Flash Player..
by Ted Gervais
Hi everyone. I am knew to the list and have Fedora Core 5 newly
installed.
Most things are ok but I can't get the plugin for Macromedia Flash
Player installed. I have tried all the methods available to me and
while Fedora tells me that the Flash Player is installed, I don't see it
when I click on Help>About Plugins.
I have tried making sure the Flash Player files are in
~/.mozilla/plugins, and /usr/lib/mozilla, and any other place I think it
might be looking for it. No luck.
I have also tried to install it manually rather than using the automated
process. And still no luck. But in every case, Fedora tells me that
the Flash Player is installed.
Now, how do I tell Mozilla that it is installed.??

FC6 and acroread - not working
by Florin Andrei
I got acroread-7.0.5-2.2.fc5.rf.nosrc.rpm from here:
http://dries.ulyssis.org/rpm/packages/acroread/info.html
I extracted the spec file. I downloaded the latest acroread tar.gz from
Adobe, then adjusted the spec for the new version. Then rebuilt the
acroread binary package.
But when I launch acroread, I get a bunch of messages like this:
expr: syntax error
expr: syntax error
expr: syntax error
expr: syntax error
expr: syntax error
expr: syntax error
expr: syntax error
expr: syntax error
expr: syntax error
expr: syntax error
expr: syntax error
Any clue?

Re: bacula server
by RYAN M. vAN GINNEKEN
Thanks again mostly u/we got it to work so far. However it is asking for a pile of dependancies. I know give a guy an inch and he will try to take a mile or km here in Canada. Is there a way to install without any gui stuff or mabey i am wrong mabey there is no gui stuff. Some of the dependancies for those dependancies are X11 related.
I do not have any X11 stuff on this box it has no xwindows/gnome system and is minimum install Command prompt only. So before i go ahead and make a big mess of my faily clean fedora box do i really need all these or is there a way to turn some of them off.
Thanks again and sorry about top post i think my clock was messed up not sure how it happend but should be fixed now.

Looks like i am on to a whole new set of problems now, but this is great i think this means progress right?

We got the defines wrong. Try this:
$ rpmbuild --rebuild \
--define 'build_fc3 1' \
--define 'build_mysql4 1' \
bacula-1.38.5-4.src.rpm

Yes, it is. See here for an explanation:

Rebuild computer with Intel DG965WH motherboard
by Gordon Charrick
I decided it's time to rebuild my computer and replace the aging Asus
motherboard and Matrox graphics card and old ATA drives.
I went to Fry's and picked out a motherboard that I hope will work with
no problems. At least I have 15 days to return it. I also picked up a
couple Maxtor SATA drives. I plan to use the onboard graphics and sound.
Doing some googling, I'm not quite sure how compatible all the hardware
will be with FC6. It looks like there might be a problem with DVD drive.
Before I go through the time and hassle of taking apart my perfectly
working computer to replace all the innards only to find I may have to
get a different motherboard, I thought I'd ask the list for
recommendations on current motherboards that can handle dual-core
processors. Fry's has a dizzying array of motherboards in stock so
picking one is no easy task when it comes to Linux.

Sendmail + clamav-milter...
by Drew Bertola
Hi,
I'm setting up sendmail on FC6 and am having trouble determining whether
or not clamav-milter is properly configured and running. I guess
there's been some changes since the last time I set this up (FC3).
I'm not sure if I need to install and run clamav-server w/
clamav-server-sysv, but it wasn't pulled in as a dependency when I used
yum to install clamav-milter.
I've added the following line to my sendmail.mc and rebuilt sendmail.cf
(followed by a sendmail restart):
INPUT_MAIL_FILTER(`clamav', `S=local:/var/run/clamav-milter/clamav.sock,
F=, T=S:4m;R:4m')dnl
and the resulting sendmail.cf has:
O InputMailFilters=clamav, milter-regex, greylist
Xclamav, S=local:/var/run/clamav-milter/clamav.sock, F=, T=S:4m;R:4m
When I send a mail out via "echo test | mail -v -s test
drew(a)somewhere.com" I do receive the mail, but there's no header telling
me it's gone through the milter. Anyone have an idea what's wrong?
Also, has anyone played with milter-regex or the greylist milter? How
effective are they?

cron miss-fire
by Gene Heskett
Greetings;
I didn't get any mail from amanda this morning, and no record in the log
of the script having been run at 1:01 this morning. So I called up
kcron, highlighted the command line, pulled down the edit menu and told
it to run it. It appears to be running as expected although the shell
where I launched kcron reported the root catcher exit of the first call
in that script, a call to amcheck.
This should not be, and should be bugzilla'd against kcron because it did
not become amanda before launching the script, and parts of amanda that
the script calls will fail because of that. Which bugzilla do I use?
But the real question is: Why didn't it run it at the set time this
morning?

OpenVRML plugin in extras buggy?
by Zoltan Boszormenyi
Hi,
I just noticed that there is openvrml in FE6.
I quickly installed both the i386 and x86_64 packages
but it doesn't appear on the about:plugins page in Firefox,
no matter which version (32 or 64 bit) I try to run.
There's no openvrml in FE6 bugzilla, so I report it here.

LD_LIBRARY_PATH="$MOZ_DIST_BIN"
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH
but no success.
On the other hand, when I try to compile openvrml-0.16.1
(which is a virtue in itself, as compilation requires 1.6+ GB(!)
on some source files) it announces itself correctly under Firefox.
Is there a known fix for this?

Caching updates locally
by Joe Tseng
I want to be able to cache yum updates locally so when I build machines via
kickstart I can have them update more quickly from a local server. I can't
seem to recall how to do this using wget, and googling hasn't turned
anything up yet. Does anyone know of some page that describes how to do
this? Thx.
