RE: Linux script on Windows to chjange Date and Time
by Styma, Robert E (Robert)
On Windows 2000, we use the following to get the clock
set from our local NTP master.
1. Go to Start->Run and run regedit
2. Go to key HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\W32Time\Parameters\Type and make sure the value is NTP
3. Go to folder HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\W32Time\Parameters In the value area right click an in the popup select new->StringValue. Add the value name NtpServer and the entry will be created.
4. Right click the newly created key and in the popup select Modify.
Enter the value 192.168.1.4 and click away from the field to set the change. Use the approprate IP address for your site.
5. Go to Start->Programs->Administrative Tools->Services.
If you do not have Administrative Tools under Programs, perform the following steps:
In an empty area of the task bar containing the "Start" button, right click and select "Properties" from the popup menu.
A. Click the "Advanced" tab.
B. Set the check in the Display Administrative Tools checkbox.
C. Press OK. The adminisrative tools should appear under Programs.
6. Scroll down to Windows Time and right click this entry. Select the Stop entry.
Right click the entry again and select Start.
7. You can check that the change took by going to Start->Programs->Administrative Tools->Event Viewer and looking at the last few entries in the system log for W32Time. You should see a "Time services synced time from time source 192.168.1.4" entry in there somewhere.
Hope this helps.

install custom RPM package on Fedora x86_64 - conflict
by Florin Andrei
FC4 has been transferred to Fedora Legacy but there's no OpenSSL update
yet. I've found an updated openssl src.rpm on the Web that rebuilds fine
on FC4 x86_64, but when I try to install the binaries, I get:
# rpm

I suspect there's a conflict with the existing 32 bit openssl package:
# rpm -qa | grep openssl openssl-devel-0.9.7f-7.10
openssl-0.9.7f-7.10
xmlsec1-openssl-1.2.7-4
openssl-0.9.7f-7.10
How do I solve the conflict?

ndiswrappers on FC5
by Bob Hartung
Hi all,
I'm trying to install a PCI D-Link DWA-642 wireless adapter on a

reporting the device as installed and present. I ran depmod -a and the
modprobe ndiswrapper with no errors reported.
dmesg contains the following:

I am not a programmer. Where do I go to begin sorting this out?
Pointers to the right web link etc. I will then read and learn
(unfortunately the hard way again)!

'kickstarting' a customised install
by Tom Brown
Hi
Pardon the terminology here but is it possible to take an image of a
currently installed system and then building another machine with
exactly the same setup? A bit like dd'ing the install but having it so
that the partitioning would be more dymanic if you built this image onto
a bigger box or something?
I ask as we have base kickstarts that we then have to 'build' into
different types of systems, be it database, app etc so it would be
really great to snapshot a current system and them deploying this out again.
Is that possible or would it be suggested to add all the required
packages etc in the post of the kickstart?
thanks
