Hi,
I'd like to modify a boot disk adding brltty support, so I can pass the
parameter at the kernel startup or
I can startup automatically brltty support.
Could you give me the basic step?
I know that it is possible but I don't know How can do it.
Thanks in advance for this information.
Yours Sincerely.

Did you read through the documentation the packages ship with? The
Fedora Extras packages have extra readmes.

The clamav-update package ships with a cron job, running every 3 hours.
As explained in the /etc/sysconfig/freshclam file you have to remove or
comment the line
FRESHCLAM_DELAY=disabled-warn
to activate automatic signature updates.

Without seeing your sendmail.mc configuration regarding the
clamav-milter setup it is hard to say what is going wrong.

need help with clamd, freshclam & clamav-milter setup...
by Mike Leahy
Hello list,
I'm wondering if anyone knows a fairly straightforward way to get ClamAV
running on FC4. I got the rpms through yum, but this did not actually
install a daemon for clamd. I was eventually able to hack a script into
the init.d folder that runs clamd, and I have clamav-milter running with
sendmail. While I have all of this stuff running without errors
(services are all ok, as far as I can tell, sendmail is hooked into
clamav-milter). However I have two problems.
First, I'm getting emails sent to root with the following warning:
WARNING: update of clamav database is disabled; please see
'/etc/sysconfig/freshclam'
for information how to enable the periodic update resp. how to turn
off this message.
I've looked at that file, and it's not very explanatory...does anyone
know how to get freshclam enabled?
Second, I tried sending the eicar test virus through my sendmail server,
but as far as I can tell, nothing was detected...and no logs 'at all'
are being generated by the clamav-milter service (even though the config
is telling it to). What do I need to get sendmail/clamav-milter working
in harmony? In this case, I'd almost prefer errors, so I'd have an idea
what might be the problem.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions,
Mike

RE: playing audio CDs on FC4
by Craig Preston
Have you plugged the cd drive into the input on the sound card. Windows
can play music without this cable, but I'm not sure if Linux can.

Subject: playing audio CDs on FC4
Hello All,
I'm running FC4 with a KDE desktop on a new Pentium 4 dual
booting with Windows XP. Under Windows I can play and rip CDs on the
DVD drive using Windows Media Player without anything unusual happening.
(I mention this only to eliminate the obvious hardware issues.)
With FC4 the system recognizes my soundcard:
Vendor: Intel
Model: Corporation 82801FB/FBM/FR/RW/FRW (ICH6 Family) High
Definition Audio Controller
Module: snd-hda-intel
and plays the usual test tune.
The mixer KMix shows all the outputs turned on with 75% volume
(except for PCM which doesn't seem to have a mute function.)
The CD players xmms and KsCD both appear to be playing from the
drive but I can't get any sound.
Thanks for the help,
Jerry

Stateless IM
by Andy Pieters
Hi list
Does anyone know of a program that can directly connect a Linux box to a
windoze box so that we can chat?
Privacy is one thing, the other is with normal instant messengers, all clients
are dependant on the server. If the server is overloaded or unavailable, it
doesn't work.
By stateless I actually meant that it doesn't rely on a constant connection,
like if for instance it uses the UDP protocol to send messages and the TCP to
send acks or something?
Anyone know of such a beast?
With kind regards
Andy

Automatic email relay agent?
by Hongwei Li
Hi,
Is there any program that can function as "automatic email relay" agent?
Basically, I stop all email relay in my fc3 and fc4 systems and allow only
some ip address range to relay emails. This way, my users in our subnet and
some users at home (who's ip addresses are known) can use outlook etc. to send
emails. The problem is that sometimes, some users travel to other cities and
they still want to use outlook to send emails. Since I don't know thoses ip
addresses, they will get "email relay error".
Is there any program that can temporarily add those ip addresses to the
allowed list for email relay for the users with correct password, but not for
other strangers, for some days, then later remove it?
I remember somebody mentioned such package, but never used it and don't know
if it works under fc3, fc4 with selinux enforced.
I appreciate any help!
