Help with firewire CD-burner in Fedora
by TNguyennsj@netscape.net
Hi all,
I recently switched to fedora from RH9. I have one problem with my ADS firewire CD-burner. With RH9, I had no problem of using the burner at all, but now, with Fedora I cannot use it at all even though Fedora recognizes the ADS interface. In the hardware browser, it reports the interface under SCSI. In the device info section, it says "manufacturer: unknown; driver: sbp2"; furthermore, my CD-burner is a Lite-on 16x10x40 one.
Any suggestion would be appriciated.
J.T.

Error while trying to upgrade from RH8 toi FC1
by Robin Laing
I am trying to move upto Fedora Core from RH 8 and during the upgrade I
keep getting an error message and being told to reboot. This message
occurs right after I select the partition to upgrade. (/dev/hda3)
--- error message
Error mounting device sda1 as /mnt/pix.
No such file or directory
This most likely means this partition has not been formatted.
Press OK to reboot your system.
--- end error message.
I don't have a scsi drive or controller (sda1) so I would assume that
the install is trying to use the CD rom or the partition that my RH 8
is installed on and is having problems with linking.
This error occurs in either graphical or text install attempts at the
same location.
I guess I will hold off on Fedora until I hear an answer.
CD have been tested using the install test routine and all have been
confirmed.

kernel 2.6 very sluggish
by Calderon, Jay
Hello All,
(Upgrade from rh9 to fedora)
Having issue with kernel 2.6 (yummed from
//people.redhat.com/davej/FedoraCore2). Under kernel 2.4.22-1.2129.nptl
things run smoothly. Under kernel 2.6 it's awefully sluggish. Evolution,
terminal, epiphany :-P take forever to launch and mouse sputters
(intellimouse). Are there any/which logs I should look at to find out
the issues? Any help would be appreciated. Or should I direct these
questions elsewhere? TIA.

Try again - I've seen a similar error which seems to be caused by timeouts.

2.6 and sound, ymfpci
by Michael P. Soulier
Hey people,
Under 2.4, I just load up the ymfpci module and my sound works
great. Under 2.6, I can't get it working. I've tried both the alsa and
oss versions.
I can't seem to get a simple ymfpci.o module built with any of the
options. Selecting that card type under alsa builds a snd-ymfpci.ko
module (what's the 'ko'??), and oss builds ymfpci.ko. I've tried loading
both, and /dev/dsp just doesn't work properly.
Did something seriously change in 2.6?
Cheers,
Mike

K3b: ide-scsi
by Henk Jurriens
Hi,
I want to use K3B, but I got the following message :
No support for ATAPI with cdrdao
You will not be able to use all your reading devices as copy sources since
there is at least one not configured to use SCSI emulation and your system
does not support ATAPI with cdrdao.
Solution: The best and recommended solution is to enable ide-scsi (SCSI
emulation) for all devices. This way you won't have any problems.
But how can I enable ide-scsi emulation? My harddisk had ide-scsi emulation
( kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.4.22-1.2135.nptl ro root=LABEL=/ hdd=ide-scsi rhgb )
Greetings
