We had the problem of inconsistency between .po and .pot files, since someone could commit changes made to an old file.
I've made two scripts that I hope will help the managing of the .po and .pot files. I recommend to use it only if you are sure that the two files are out of sync, and that will use it only one preson per language. (maybe better if she is Sarah or other administrators).
1) The first script, named popotmerge wants to be started with the .po file you want to merge and MUST be executed from the directory from which you want the script searches for .po files. For example:
cd /home/fede/fedora ./popotmerge it.po
the script will search for all "it.po" and *.pot files starting from the current working directory (`pwd`) and merges they together. Actually you must have write permissions to /tmp directory (or you can change the variable value at the begin of the script with $HOME).
2) The second script, named pocvscommit wants to be started with the .po file you want to commit via CVS and MUST be executed from the same directory as the preview script. For example:
cd /home/fede/fedora ./pocvscommit it.po
the script will search for all "it.po" files and commit the changes to the CVS server. You must have your CVS variable environment correctly configured.

To install: save the attachment and chmod +x popotmerge pocvscommit

Well done! Must be good to see Italian on the top of the overall status list ;)
Question:
- I found in anaconda some strings about "RedHat" or
"redhat-config-......"
The strings are in the english version... will it be translated in
order
to
avoid confusing Fedora's users? Actually I've translated "RedHat" into "distribution" or
"redhat-config"
into "system-config".
I would suggest you report such errors to bugzilla because the developers need to change them in pot files.
Even it seems to be all finished, I saw there's a lot of mistakes in
italian
translations, so there's the need to check it... :( it seems to be translated with Google Language tools ;) Keep us updated about it in order to avoid multiple checking to the
same
translations.
Very good idea to proofread the translated files! I would suggest you have a update check before making corrections just to make sure that your po files is consistent with latest pot file (I know this process should be automated but at the moment just in case...):
msgmerge it.po <package>.pot > tmp.po mv tmp.po it.po
Then edit it.po as usaual
The correct number of total entries should be 10633 but Italian has 10620 entries, so there must be some po files are not consistent with pot files... And of course, it's always a good idea to let others know what file you are proofreading in advance :)
Again, very well done!

Hi,
I have question: In file lang-names is for each country 2 names - in English and in native. Where does get from anaconda native language name? For Estonian is there name twice in English. How can I change it?
