I've found the problem and fortunately only two strings were affected. The large number of untranslated strings in the Czech version of the book were due to an unrelated problem with my local Zanata configuration. I've fixed it and all translated strings have been restored to the Czech version except for the two affecting all books. The files and strings are:

Download_Fedora.po : "The image file for the Fedora 17 live CD is available from http://download.fedoraproject.org/pub/fedora/linux/releases/17/Live/i686/Fedora-17-i686-Live-Desktop.iso. Download and save this file to your computer."

Boot_your_computer_from_the_CD.po : "Either press Enter to select the Start Fedora 17 option, or wait for the countdown to expire. "

The version number of Fedora was causing the problem in each case. I'm unsure why, because the po files were outdated even though I've refreshed them since I last worked on these strings myself in en-US.

So - and I do apologise - I will have to ask those who were working on the Czech, Dutch, Italian, and Ukrainian guides to revisit these po files and translate these two strings again. I have uploaded the refreshed pot files, so the po files are now awaiting completion in all locales.

The other strings in these files are still intact, so the required work is fortunately minimal.

I'm very sorry for the inconvenience, especially after announcing the publication of your completed work. On the bright side, I have replaced the Fedora version number in these strings with the PRODVER entity (as it always should have been), so you won't need to touch these strings to update the version number again.

Thanks again for your hard work, especially in unexpected cases like this.

Jack

Yikes, I spoke too soon. The problem seems to be multi-faceted: while I don't have some of the translated strings despite having pulled everything from Zanata, I also DO have some of the other translated strings that are nonetheless being displayed in English too.

I'm looking into this and will keep you informed.

Hi everyone,

The Fedora 17 version of the Installation Quick Start Guide has now been
published in Czech, Dutch, Italian, and Ukrainian.

Thanks so much to the following people for their hard work on this book.

- Josef Hruška, David Jaša, Petr Kovar, and Michal Vaněk, for the Czech
translation
- Geert Warrink, for the Dutch translation
- Cristian Caracciolo, Manuel Ospina, Mario Santagiuliana, Antonio Trande,
and Francesco Valente, for the Italian translation
- Yuri Chornoivan, for the Ukrainian translation

(I am thanking the whole team, as listed on Zanata, but special thanks to
those who led the way with this book.)

Thank you all especially for adjusting to Zanata for this book for this
release, especially if this was your first time using it. We've had a
number of setbacks with the Installation Quick Start Guide, so thank you
for adapting so capably and producing such a great result.

Cheers,

Jack

this<http://docs.fedoraproject.org/it-IT/Fedora/17/html/Installation_Quick_Start_Guide/Download_Fedora.html>
.
Is it the case to open a bug report ?

Yes, I can confirm untranslated strings even in the Czech version. Hole page of "6. Language Selection" [1] and "7. Fedora Live Desktop", for example. And there is an untranslated string in almost every chapter. I suspect the strings involved are those that were changed or added as update from last (Fedora 16) version of the guide, maybe last translation, or so.
