Language list seems a bit of mess. I didn’t find zh_CN and zh_TW and
zh_HK on the list. Please add them. Or change zh_Hans, zh_Hant,
zh_Hant_HK respectively.
Thanks for your feedback.
I'm not expert in this, but I understand from the web that the codes
zh_CN, zh_TW, zh_HK are old codes and should be replaced by the new
ones. I found multiple sources, the most relevant ones are:
https://www.w3.org/TR/i18n-html-tech-lang/#h2_langvalues
http://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/bcp/bcp47.txt
And the replacement rule is also in the CLDR:
https://github.com/unicode-org/cldr/blob/ed7854cb6209678739712854a2df1cac...
I'm not sure why we should keep to the old notation in this context, can
you please share your concerns?
I assume this may impact for us, I'll see with:
* the Weblate team how to proceed for existing projects using zh_CN so
work is not lost
* the Fedora i18n team to see how this may impact Fedora as an operating
system
The Chinese Min Nan (nan), Yue (yue), Zhuang
(za) are not needed.
While this doesn't bother me to do so, this triggers a question we
should face: what should be the criteria to decide a language code is or
isn't allowed in our translation platform?
Remove it from the list of language prevents someone to translate in
these languages, and selecting available ones is something I would like
not to be responsible of.
Are these like FR, FR_BE, FR_CA, FR_CH, very close relatives and almost
never used?
Also please keep the words “Please choose” on top of that list.
I did not understand this, sorry
