Fedora 25 - Software String Freeze
by Jean-Baptiste
Dear translation teams,
according to [Fedora 25 schedule], we reached "Software String Freeze"
on august 9th.
What to translate ? Packages that follow Fedora release cycle :
Main projects : https://fedora.zanata.org/version-group/view/main
Need priority list ?
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/L10N_GUI
Is there a time limit ?
The same schedule says "Software Translation Deadline" is 2016-09-06
When can I see it live ?
It should arrive in beta release.
What can I do if my language is already awesomely well translated ?
(congratulation to Spanish team who is 100%!) Search untranslated
strings that should be, test the translation in real world use case,
search a useful software witch is untranslated, etc.
Or just go help upstream, Gnome String Freeze is tomorrow :
https://l10n.gnome.org/languages/
Anything else ?
Websites, some strings are added/removed from time to time, remember to
go and have a look, but there is no schedule as it is automatically
published.
Documentation, I personally advice not to translate it until docs team
find the way to automatically publish content with his new system
Pintail (they said a blog post should arrive soon on community blog).
Please note this is a team decision and only my personal point of view.
Have fun!

Okay Alexandru, thank you for give it a go. I added him in cvsl10n group
and upgraded to 'sponsor' roll, so that he can take an action upon request.
Jobava, please go through the maintainer page [1] to learn
how-to-become-coordinator. The page contains important information where
the coordinator needs to know. Any question, feel free to ask :-)

19:00 UTC
by Jan Kurik
Join us on irc.freenode.net in #fedora-meeting for the Fedora 25 Alpha
Release Readiness Meeting meeting.
The meeting is going to be held on Thursday, August 18, 2016 19:00
UTC. Please check the [FedoCal] link for your time zone.
We will meet to make sure we are coordinated and ready for the Alpha
release of Fedora 25 on Tuesday, August 23nd, 2016. Please note that
this meeting is going to be held even if the release is delayed at the
Go/No-Go meeting on the same day two hours earlier.
You may received this message several times, but it is by purpose to
open this meeting to the teams and to raise awareness, so hopefully
more team representatives will come to this meeting. This meeting
works best when we have representatives from all of the teams.

Translating in Zanata and Zanata Metrics
by Bhagyashree Padalkar
Hi,
I am Bee. My Fedora wiki page is : https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/User:Bee2502 . You can find me in IRC , mostly in #fedora-commops as bee2502.
Till now, I have mostly contributed to Community Operations team on metrics related tasks. After attending the localization workshop in flock, I am have become interested in translating to Marathi and Hindi. I am a native Marathi speaker and have studied Hindi in school.
I have sent a request to those respective groups in Zanata.
During the flock workshop, there was also a discussion about zanata related metrics. I am also interested in contributing to these metrics and I was hoping someone could help me get started.
Cheers,
Bee

I am bit concerned on this in general.
It is best **not to modify this page until you are clearly confirmed as
new coordinator by previous coordinator. Or it is cleared that previous
coordinator does not respond at all and other team members agree you
being new coordinator.

It is safe to wait a couple of weeks if you havn't tried yet.
Again it is best that hand-over announcement is made by previous
coordinator and that new coordinator is introduced in the announcement.

Alexandru, could you please respond and make an announcement if you are
happy to have Jobava as new coordinator?

File isn't showing as fully translated
by Sylvia Sánchez
Hi everyone!
I've been translating a radio amateur programme and I see the file I
just finished translating as %68,8 translated. But AFAIK is %100, I
see no spare lines without translation.
So what am I doing wrong? How can I fix it?
Cheers and thanks,
Sylvia

Localization vocable
by Jean-Baptiste
Dear translator teams,
I have a tiny word issue with roles in localization, we currently have a
mix-up of words. After the little email discussion with Noriko and
conversations at Flock, I feel like a general consensus already exists,
but I prefer to write it here.
TL;DR; For a L10N Team, we currently have different roles about the
person who manage it : sponsor, maintainer, lead and coordinator. I
request the right to use "coordinator" as language on all wiki pages.
Please react here if you strongly disagree. If there is disagreement,
feel free the react for or against the proposal.
End : 31/08/2016
Some definition :
http://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/sponsor
http://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/coordinator
http://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/maintain
http://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/leader
When reading the definitions, the coordinator is the most logical word
to use to me.
Here is my understanding of his roles :
* helping access management (groups approval and introduction)
* explain Fedora process and send relevant information to the language
team
* being a privileged contact for newcomers
* answer questions and help community to have a continual improvement
process (includes reaching consensus and help problem solving)
By the way, to make a full explanation, here is the role I see for a
language team : helping to have the best end-user "language" experience.
Please note this is not Fedora software focused but Fedora product
focused, it means we sometimes/often improve upstream project. The
translation priority is defined per team, but a global priority lists
already exists for fedora packages.
thanks for your time,
