Transifex translations

Hello, all! As you might already know, we are running transifex.net for any Open Source project that wants to receive translations from the community in general. Following this directive, we just enabled Transifex (Tx) itself (http://transifex.net/projects/p/transifex/<https://transifex.net/projects/p/transifex/>) to receive translations from there. Up to now, Tx was receiving translations only from the Fedora community. Thinking about a more upstream way of collaboration, now I would like to encourage you guys to join transifex.net, in order to continue the awesome work you have done with Tx. Beside you guys, now Tx will be able to receive translations from other folks as well. :) Submission of files from https://translate.fedoraproject.org/projects/transifex/ is no longer enabled, and we will remove it from t.fp.o completely in 2-3 days, in order to avoid any confusion. :) Thanks for your supporting. -- Diego Búrigo Zacarão http://diegobz.net

Transifex "Pyro" v0.7 released!

Hey all. Here's a heads-up on the 0.7 release, which hopefully will be available on our servers. Not sure exactly when (Infra freezes and other bits), but hopefully soon. == Indifex and the Transifex Community are proud to announce the newest version of their flagship Open Translation Platform, Transifex 0.7 codenamed "Pyro". Transifex is a web application that gives translators a simple yet featureful web interface to manage translations for multiple remotely-hosted projects. Files to be translated can be translated straight from the user's browser or retrieved for offline translation, and various translation statistics can be read at a glance. Thanks to all those who made this possible, but most importantly, the communities which use Transifex internally and together we've made this release possible: Fedora, Moblin, XFCE, OpenInkpot and spreadlovenow. What's new in 0.7 ================= A full list of the features with details and screenshots, and the bugfixes introduced can be found in the Pyro release notes: http://docs.transifex.org/releases/0.7.html Here’s a list of the major features shipped: - Lotte: The Lightweight Online Translation Editor: We’ve talked about Lotte in the past. This release showcases the first alpha version of Lotte. Its main features are still under heavy development, but following the ‘Release early, Release often’ principle, we’ve unleashed this lady out in the wild to get some feedback and improve. - Fine-grained permissions allow maintainers to control who has access to his repository. And that’s not just it. Translators can ‘Request access’ to a project too, making it easier for volunteers to show their interest in translating particular projects. - Submissions to a mailbox: Are you a developer with code behind a firewall, or shipping an tarball release? Fear not any more. Transifex can send the submitted translations straight to your inbox. And more: - User Profiles: Becoming more social! Getting jiggy with it. - Publican-like I18n Support: For our friends in the Fedora Documentation Project. - Simplified branching support: Following the KISS principle. - A fresh, pre-configured appliance available in an number of formats (ISO, VMWare, Amazon EC2) ready to run with the click of a button. - And many, many other improvements in more than 300 changesets and 273 files changed. Update on desktop-effects

Thanks for all the positive responses on earlier mail. I apologize for the new strings not appearing in transifex earlier; it's my first time maintaining a project translated with transifex, so it didn't occur to me that I was responsible for updating desktop-effects.pot in git. That has been done now, and the new strings are now showing up on: https://translate.fedoraproject.org/projects/desktop-effects/master/ I did take advantage of my mistake to do a small string update - I added a check for hardware OpenGL support, so there are a couple of new strings related to that in addition to the ones I mentioned earlier. (The total count of new strings is now 15.) A question: My experience in GNOME is that translators don't like 'make update-po' (msgmerge) being run by the maintainer. They'd rather do the merge themselves when they are editing the translation. On the other hand: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/L10N/FAQ#msgmerge Says: "Ideally, all POs should be msgmerged each time the POT is updated (ie. by the developer)." So I went ahead and ran 'make update-po' and checked the result in. Was that the right thing to do? - Owen

translation question (ABRT module)

Hi all, While translating ABRT file for Fedora 12 I have come across this phrase : "Nothing to hydrate!" It's GUI translation so there is no context, it's just an error message. Smolt translations

I've had a couple of people email me about confusion regarding smolt and the submission line, I've simplified it to: Your choice (s)end (v)iew (q)uit: It's after the string freeze but I think this simplification will be better for everyone. Hope that's ok :) -Mike
