Our goal about Fedora 11 translations is have Transifex on our production servers by March 10th. We're packaging it in yum to make things as easy as possible for the Infrastructure team. Software String Freeze 2009-3-10

Hi This is just kind reminder from Fedora L10N project. The software string freeze is around the corner on 10-Mar. L10n project team have started to schedule their resource and time for software translation. To get max of translation for your packages, please make sure that your repository contains latest file for translators. To assure most effort from L10n, please abide by the string freeze otherwise consult L10n team (fedora-trans-list(a)redhat.com) Translation statistic for F11 shows not much to translate atm. http://translate.fedoraproject.org/releases/fedora-11 Thank you for your attention. Translation of Common Content files for Publican

Hi all - By way of introduction, I'm a content author with Red Hat Engineering Content Services, presently working on bringing some of the documentation for Fedora and Red Hat Enterprise Linux closer together. To make this possible, the Fedora Documentation Project is using (or will be using) new software to create some of its documents. This software (called Publican - https://fedorahosted.org/publican/ ) uses a common set of XML files to create documentation in HTML, PDF, and other formats. As part of the uniform "look and feel" that Publican gives to documents, it includes a couple of standard sections. At present, these are: * "Conventions" - a section that explains the typographic conventions used in a document - available in a .pot file here: https://fedoraproject.org/w/uploads/8/89/Conventions.pot * "Feedback" - a common "boilerplate" section asking readers to supply feedback on the documentation - available in a .pot file here: https://fedoraproject.org/w/uploads/d/dd/Feedback.pot These sections have already been translated into many languages by Red Hat Localization Services, but as you all probably know, Fedora is translated into many languages that Red Hat doesn't support. So, to support Publican in Fedora, we need volunteers to translate these two sections into community languages. The great news is that once these files have been translated into a language, they can be used by a large number of documents without needing to be translated again and again. One key document has already been converted into Publican format, namely the Installation Guide. This guide has already been translated (at least partly) into a number of languages for which no translations for these two sections yet exist. Therefore, there's a real need to get these sections translated as soon as possible into the following languages: * Danish * Dutch * Greek * Hungarian * Indonesian * Latvian * Malay * Norwegian (Bokmål) * Polish * Portuguese (Portugal) * Serbian (Cyrillic and Latin alphabets) * Swedish Of course, translations into languages not on this list are very welcome too, in anticipation of future documents being prepared in Publican, but these twelve are a priority right now. Languages that do NOT need translating (because Red Hat has already done them): * Assamese * Bengali * Chinese (Simplified and Traditional) * French * German * Guarani * Hindi * Italian * Japanese * Kannada * Korean * Malayalam * Marathi * Oriya * Portuguese (Brazilian) * Punjabi * Russian * Sinhalese * Slovenian * Spanish * Tamil * Telugu Is there a place in a repository somewhere that these Common Content files and their translations can be checked into? Introducing myself

Good evening, I am Mario Santagiuliana, I study Medicine and Surgery at University of Trieste in Italy. I love Fedora and I want to help improve this software expecially in localization. I don't have really much time but I can do something. I've just translated some wiki pages and po files in collaboration with Italian Team for Fedora. In the past I translated other minor opensource software. I've created my personal page on fedoraproject wiki, it's in Italian, my nickname is Marionline so this is the page: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/User:Marionline I'm interested in IT so I create my personal website here: http://www.marionline.it When I have a bit of time I help the new Italian Fedora User to understand and resolve their problem on Italian forum fedoraonline: www.fedoraonline.it I'm not a real guru of Fedora and linux but I can do something. I have worked only with fedora for five or six years and it is my favourite O.S., I can do everything with fedora. In Italy we have some problems to buy a notebook or pc, in generally, without microsoft operating system preinstalled, and then to have a refund for software. I bought a Dell's notebook some months ago and I love so much Fedora that I insisted in order to obtain a refund for Vista O.S., finally I got something similar to a refund. All my story and my emails with Dell are on my blog but they are in Italian(sorry). I use this email address for fedora mailing list. My personal email address is mario at marionline dot it.
