Hi All
My Name is Sanjib Narzary

City: Kokrajhar
Country: India
State: BTAD(Assam)
PIN: 783347
I am a final year CSE student. of National Institute of Technology, Silchar
(http://www.nits.ac.in)
I have been using Fedora Since from its version 4. Now its time to do
something for Fedora. Thats why i am goin to start from a translation
project for Bodo language. But as i search in the tarnslation group there is
no existing Group for Bodo language project.
I need to create one group for Bodo language team. Further i will join in
Documentation translation for Bodo language and after successful of these
projects will turn in some development project.
As a new comer i have no experienced in any of the projects nor in the
translation, if problems comes up after documentation i will surely asks to
experts.
As i know C as my basic language i can handle the situation but as i have
chosen Java as my core i will be more interested in GUI and Networking.

Hi!
The Fedora 9 GA release notes have been updated for the Web-only

* Java.xml (spelling mistake, "an" instead of "a")
* I18n.xml fixed hyperlink...
The Devel.xml file had quite a few changes - sorry.

Introduce my self to you all
by Tian Shixiong
Hello everyone of the world, and hello the world,
I am Tianshixiong (Tiansworld), I'm sorry that I didn't make a
self-introduction as soon as possible.
I come from Baotou, Inner Mongolia, China and now I've just graduated from
Tianjin University of Science and Technology
and look for a job.
I began to use Fedora Core 4 in Oct, 2005 and also that was the first Linux
distribution I've ever used.
I like Fedora so much, from 4 to 8, during the days with Fedora I learned
so much on commands, system settings and program installing and using.......
I think that is a great choice for me to be a member of Fedora translation.
This helps me to learn more and the most important thing is that I can make
contribution to Fedora project. I am so glad to translate the docs into
Chinese.
This my GPG KEY and fingerprint:

by Noriko Mizumoto
Hi
Because this mail made me big smile so forwarded :)
This is what something I like to do here in FLP too.
One place to go and find extra exciting task that anyone can help.
Ideally the task is small enough to accomplish with short time.
Any idea?

Is there a list of stuff that needs to get done? I'd love to be able
to grab a task from a list when I have an unplanned hour or two to
spend (like tonight).
Is there anything like the equivalent to the discussion page in
wikipedia/media wiki? It might make things easier for newbies like me
if we can look at a page with notes on what's been done and what
still needs to be done especially if it is stored with the actual
document.

by Tim Richert
Hi,
my name is Tim Richert, I am from Germany and have used Fedora for quite
~ some time now.
I really love it, and like that there are only 100%-free packages but
you expand it with livna!
I recently needed rar support for clamav and looked through the SPEC
file, i saw that the packager not only excluded rar-support because of
the license problems but he included a switch, so you can compile it
WITH rar support!
Seeing this, and seeing how great and really nice the community is, i
wanted to participate in such a great product and here i am ;)
I am leading, together with a friend, a small company in Germany that
provides the users with webspace, domains, etc.
The company makes demands on my time, but as much time as i can spend, i
will spend on helping the translation team!
The first few strings i translated are attached to this mail and i've
uploaded them to transiflex.
I hope that we'll make Fedora 10 rock and be able to translate it into
MANY languages!
You can contact me under:

ICQ: 225-016-616

Thanks for having me in the team,

Help a little, make Fedora 10 a lot better
by Nicolas Mailhot
Mission accomplished?
=====================
It's the half-year mark, a final package set is being spun, blocking
problems have been resolved, the sky is blue… People can now focus on
this version release parties right?
WRONG
It's time to think of the NEXT version release parties. And how to make
the next Fedora version rock so much the parties will be HUGE. In
particular, care of issues that will need a full release cycle to mature
before the next release.
We're not there (yet)
=====================
Such as… fonts. Fedora inherited from Red Hat Linux an impeccable
American server OS pedigree. Unfortunately it also inherited
its American server OS limits. Massive non-English Linux desktop
deployments often use Debian or Debian derivatives. Meanwhile we discuss
English locales support.
Why fonts?
==========
More than flash or mp3 support we need more fonts, so the text that
makes most of our UI renders fine. It does not matter how many cool
features the Desktop team adds in the next cycle — if the UI text
screams to the user “I hate you” he won't install better fonts manually.
He'll switch to a competitor that deploys Fedora-developed features with
nice fonts.
Why fonts? (really)
===================
We need more artsy fonts so the art team can produce all kinds of cool
promotional Fedora material (including release party flyers).
We need more international fonts so regions where the Fedora presence is
currently nil can join the partying.
We need more fonts so the work of all the non-server SIGs is properly
appreciated.
Over all, we need more fonts so users can customize their desktop to the
point they can't envision using something else than Fedora.
Why me?
=======
The situation got a little better during the Fedora 9 cycle. But we're
still badly lagging distributions that have been investing in good font
experience for a long time (Debian, Mandriva). And the Fedora 9 effort
was produced by few people, that can not scale indefinitely.
The Fedora font wishlist has 32 entries today. Not counting the public
font lists it references: only fonts someone explicitly requested.
That's more than 2/3 of the total of our currently packaged fonts.
The list is growing, not shrinking. Many entries have half a year
(before we didn't tack them).
Clearly a targeted effort by new packagers is required to fix the
situation by Fedora 10 time.
It's easy!
==========
Font packaging is not hard:
1. we've got good official streamlined packaging guidelines
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/SIGs/Fonts/Packaging
2. most font upstreams make few releases; you don't have to track them
closely
A font package is perfect for would-be packagers that need to to learn
the ropes on a simple package. A font package is perfect for experienced
packagers that do not have the time to take care of another time-waster.
Let's party!
============
So here's the deal:
A. We need 32 packagers to adopt a font in the SIG wishlist:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/SIGs/Fonts/Triaging/Pipeline#wishes
(Including fonts best packaged locally. It's a chicken-and-egg problem:
we won't get local packagers before Fedora is attractive enough for them
to join)
B. We need them to package their font by Fedora 10 alpha¹
C. *Then* we can have huge Fedora 10 parties
D. For Fedora 11, repeat with “getting better than the competition” as
objective
¹ So the result can be tested and the eventual buglets resolved
upstream and in fontconfig before the final release
