#963: Request to increase the frequency of translation statistic updates
-----------------------------+----------------------------------------------
Reporter: runab | Owner: santosp,ricky,mmcgrath
Type: enhancement | Status: new
Priority: major | Milestone:
Component: Web Application | Version:
Severity: Normal | Keywords:
-----------------------------+----------------------------------------------
Currently the translation statistics on translate.fedoraproject.org are
updated at 3 times during the day[1]: 0100, 0900, 1700 UTC.
With updates being made by the appilcation/docs authors and translators,
there is a huge lag in the updated display of translation statistics as
per the repository revision. Since the translators rely heavily on the
translate.fedoraproject.org interface to get the latest working copy of a
.po file, they often end up getting an older version of the file.
Will it be possible to increase the frequency of updates for the
translation statistics interface, so that this problem can be resolved.
Thanks
Runa

Hi
I like to have a question.
What if F10 release note in specific language requires some modification
in translation?
We are still able to modify it?
If we can, how can that improvement be reflected into web publication?
Thanks
noriko
Instead of writing a dry, boring English release announcement for
translation ...
You are encouraged to write your own announcement, in your native
language, for your region of the world.
Please collaborate with other members of your localization/Ambassador
community for your 'formal' announcement.
Ambassadors -- please lead this effort within your language/locale.
Here are the points to discuss:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Talking_points_for_F10
You do not need to cover most or all of those; pick what you think
your audience wants to hear about the most.
This page explains the process in more detail, with links to previous
announcements:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Release_announcements
Still fixing a few things on that page, but it's usable right now. :)

When setting up the upcoming elections, based on participant requests,
I announced we would have some IRC Town Halls, for each of the groups
being elected, between Thursday December 4 and Saturday December 6.
I'd like to propose each group have at least one, and if the group so
wishes, two, such town halls. If two, schedule them at somewhat
opposite times of day to allow greatest community participation in at
least one.
Schedule: non-overlapping, first-come-first-serve by the groups. I've
put up a placeholder schedule for the Board town halls, subject to
revision based on availability of the nominees.
Committee chairs: please discuss with your nominees the best times
they are available, and schedule on the wiki page [1] accordingly.
Moderators: consider this a call for moderators. If you would like to
moderate one or more sessions, please contact me directly. Moderators
will take questions from the -public IRC channel, ask them in the
-townhall channel, and try to keep the conversations on topic.
I've set up two IRC rooms on FreeNode:
#fedora-townhall - moderator and those running for election may speak,
anyone else can read.
#fedora-townhall-public - anyone can speak. Questions asked here may
be presented by the moderator in
#fedora-townhall.
Comments?
(all current nominees have been bcc'd)
Thanks,
Matt

Hi all of you fedora translators !
My name is Corentin, known as troubi_51 on the french forum and on IRC
(#fedora,#fedora-fr,#fedora-unity)
I am currently a student at Troyes' University in France (it is called
the UTT: Université de Technologie de Troyes)
I'd like get involved in fedora's translations because I think french
translation of my favourite Linux distro is far from complete.
I have been using fedora for 1 year and a half now (I began using Linux
with ubuntu), and I am used to reporting bugs, doing simple admin tasks
on my personal notebook. I also have created a fedora server using mail
server, ssh, web, mysql (for cacti and nagios) at France 3 (one of our
public television channels).
I am also involved in the Fedora Unity project (as a tester only, for
the moment)
I have some qualifications in Interface design as I am currently
attending a course about this particular computer skill (we only work on
Delphi, anyway). I also have a diploma in networking and
telecommunications ( a 2 years university training). Finally, I have
worked for a French web hosting solutions company, which is called
Ikoula, and
which, by the way, hosts fedora-fr.org infrastructure.
Thank you all for allowing me to participate and contribute to the
Fedora project !
So, I am eager to begin contributing.... could someone tell me how to
get started ? (I already have a fedora account, signed key, etc.).
Thanks !
See you !
