New release notes POT/PO

I just sent some new POT and PO for the release notes content to the git repositories. There were a couple of XML files missing from the manifest that needed to be added. F10 Release Notes PO files

Hi It seems that POT and PO files have now been updated. This was supposed to happen on 6-Nov, and many of us have not committed our files yet. We now have to stop working. http://git.fedoraproject.org/git/?p=docs/release-notes.git;a=summary One funny thing to me, the total number of strings decreased to 1024 strings... Could someone please let us know what is happening? noriko

Strange commit

Hello! Today I noticed a strange pt_BR.po commit for system-config-printer from an unknown Mandriva guy. The translator never had introduced himself in pt_BR mailing list or warned somebody about the module translation. I don't believe this is his fault, maybe he just doesn't know how things work. Fortunately he did a good commit, but for security I replaced his file with an updated version of my last commit file, since I am the current maintainer for Brazilian Portuguese translation of system-config-printer. I think we really should rethink how members are approved for cvsl10n group. Anybody could have committed a translation file full of errors, bad words or even a malicious file replacing the actual .PO. Regards, Igor Pires Soares

Release Notes POT a little late

FLSCo elections

Another Fedora release is approaching, so it's time for elections for the L10n steering committee (FLSCo). As noted on the Elections page [1], "The four top vote receivers serve on FLSCo for 12 months, the next three vote receivers serve for 6 months". In the end, FLSCo will again consist of 7 people from our translation community and these will be the project leaders for the upcoming 6 months. Looking at the previous results [2], Marek, Fabian and Piotr can, of course, run for re-election (and I hope they will =). The Nomination Page is now open. If you're a member of the FLP and would like to bring in in new ideas in steering the Project, represent FLP in the general Fedora project, put in your candidacy at the Nominations Page. Docs details and deadlines update

Friends: Some updates on the documentation translation schedule. The Fedora 10 release notes and all languages are now live: http://docs.fedoraproject.org/release-notes/ We included all translations regardless of % of completion[1] for the Preview Release. We plan to update those pages every few days with any changes to PO files that are committed. If you would like request a push for your latest PO file, especially if you have it 100% ready, file a ticket here, using your FAS account: https://fedorahosted.org/release-notes 13 November 2008 is still the deadline for translations of this content to appear in the 'fedora-release-notes' package for F10 GA: * release-notes * about-fedora * readme * readme-burning-isos * readme-live-image However, the only updated content that appears in the 'fedora-release-notes' package is the release notes. We are validating and possibly updating about-fedora and the various readme* files over the next few days. Our new deadline for that content is 06 November. 20 November 2008 is the deadline for translations of the Installation Guide. We are pushing out a 'draft' preview for the F10 Preview Release. Because it is very important for translating documentation that the writing be clear and not fluctuate with major rewrites, I am holding back pushing the POT file until 07 November. I want to give the writers and editors of the Installation Guide a few more days to make the writing ready for translation.
