Outdated .POs
by Igor Pires Soares
Hello Everybody!
These days I was checking my "Translate" directory and I noticed that
some modules still need to be merged against their .POTs by myself.
The modules I had to update:
desc
summary
smolt (translator credits added - yep!)
libvirt
virt-manager
I used the script created by Diego Zacarão which is available at
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/L10N
There is an asymmetry with the amount of entries between some languages.
For instance, Spanish has 15043 entries and Swedish has 15181.
My question is:
Is the automerge really working?

L10N Meeting Time proposals
by Thomas Canniot
Hello all,
We are to organise meetings to improve the organisation of the whole
L10N Project inside Fedora. Several topics must be discussed about the
future webUI on which Dimitri is working on and to have a moment every
week or every two week to better communicate between us and work as a
team (to tell what rocks, what sucks and how to improve it). I can see
into many people eyes, that they have things to share with all the
translators.
We need as many interested people as possible who wish to share their
mind about translation in Fedora to attend the meetings. It would be
very cool to have at least one people per local team for the future
meetings.
Here is a list of meeting times proposal for future meetings :
Monday 19:00 UTC
Tuesday 19:00 UTC
Wednesday 19:00 UTC
Thursday 19:00 UTC
Friday 19:00 UTC
Saturday 19:00 UTC
Sunday 19:00 UTC
Please add you name and you local in brackets for every day you could
be available for a future meeting.
The meeting will be held on #fedora-meeting.
Thanks

bmltmcs-1.1 is released
by Alain PORTAL
Hi translators!
The bmltmcs maintainer is proud to announce:
bmltmcs-1.1 is released
and can be download here:
http://162.38.155.15/fedora/bmltmcs-1.1.tar.bz2
You can now checkout all pot files and/or all your LANG.po files (and only
them) from the 'translate' module.
ChangeLog is:
Version 1.1 : 2007/06/12
- Add Albanian translation by Besnik Bleta <besnik AT programeshqip DOT org>
- Bug fix: all pot files are know checkoutable.
- Add licence, GPL of course ;-)
- New option: -d, --debug
Don't delete temporary files. End user useless, developer useful.
- New option: -w, --write-enable
Useful because many LANG.po haven't the write bit set.
- Add a little help in strings.LANG.txt for translators to check
if multi-lines strings look nice.
- Add Authors file
- Add ChangeLog file
- Add Tarball.list to easier packaging
'tar cvjf bmltmcs-$VERSION.tar.bz2 --files-from ./Tarball.list'
Regards

owners.list for FLP
by Dimitris Glezos
Hi guys (and gals)
We're thinking of adding L10N in bugzilla, just like Documentation is. The idea
is that bugs (corrections, suggestions, comments) about a translation should be
sent to the language team and not the package maintainer.
For this purpose, we need to create an `owners.list` file, which will hold the
languages as components, a maintainer, a QA contact (think: co-maintainer), and
a CC-list (think: your language mailing list).
I've put up a first draft (with names/people I knew and was sure of their
bugzilla account) at:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/L10N/Teams#owners.list
If you want your language to appear on bugzilla, add your language there,
following the greek example. It's best the QA contact to be different than the
maintainer. The email addresses (except the mailing list) should exist on
bugzilla.redhat.com.
Ta ta.

What's the future for translation inside the FP ?
by Thomas Canniot
Several months ago, we were asked about the future of translation
inside the Fedora Project.
Some people were in favour of a web UI (like Rosetta) to translate po
files, others wanted to keep the actual system, but with better tools
(for stats, updates and merges), and others wanted to be able to choose
between a rosetta-like system and the cvs/po one.
Then... what has been decided ? What is going on ?
I'm just asking because we are planning to reorganise our small
French translator team, and just wanted to know it's worth it.
Thanks.

Fedora 7 Final translation date snapshot question
by visez.trance@gmail.com
Hello,
I was very anxious to see the romanian translation for Fedora 7, wich I
contributed a bit. However I couldn't help notice that Fedora 7 (final)
actually has older translations than the test releases (in romanian)!? Files
translated months ago have not even been used..
One has to ask, what happend ?

Daniel

Self Introduction
by Justin Towson
Hello, everybody. My name is Justin Towson. I recently signed on to
Fedora L10N as a Japanese translator. I've been using Fedora since
FC3 and am more impressed with it every release. I am very happy to
be able to give back to the Fedora and linux community in this way,
and hope to be at least somewhat helpful in the midst of everything!
