Help with terms on system-config-printer

Hi, I have some difficulties on finding a translation for the following terms on system-config-printers "Punch\n" "Cover\n" "Bind\n" "Saddle stitch\n" "Edge stitch\n" "Fold\n" "Trim\n" "Bale\n" "Booklet maker\n" "Job offset\n" If somebody can explain what kind of finishing is every one of them it would help a lot. L10N reminder: Repackage of Fedora-upstream stuff before final and F7T4

A quick reminder to maintainers that tonight we've got the translation freeze date. This means we *guarantee* translators that their contributions committed by tomorrow will be a part of F7. Maintainers of packages that get translated through i18n.redhat.com should make sure they repackage before F7 final (the later the better if new translations show up). Repackages for T4 as well are a plus, since they give a chance to non-rawhide testers to report bugs. A bit of away time

Hey all. Just a quick notice to say that for the following 2 months I'll be away from Fedora and mailing lists due to a pile of work and a ton of upcoming stuff (thesis writing, big trip, GSoC, blah). This is done to ensure that after this period I'll still have the little hair I'm left with. Not that it will do much help, but one can only hope. I'll try to pop-in every now and then with comments but avoid actual work and regular updates. For FDSCo, if my presence is needed for a meeting or my opinion for a matter, you guys just give a shout. Self-Introduction: Ore Landau

Hello! My name is Ore Landau. I live in Petach Tikwa, Israel. I'm on my last year of junior high. I have discovered the magical world of Linux two years ago when a friend of mine came up with a initiative to install Fedora Terminal Server in our school's computers. Here's his site: http://edultsp.googlepages.com/ Since then, I have installed and used Debian, Ubuntu, Gentoo and many other. But in the end, I always come back to fedora J Only today I have discovered all this new ways to help and contribute to the Fedora project. I've always felt that the Hebrew Fedora port was lacking a lot of stuff, and that's why I'm here. In the past, I've also helped in translating Gmail to Hebrew. I'm a C# and C++ programmer and I know how to handle HTML, PHP, Perl and JS very well. I also have a great knowledge with MS Windows. Statistics for release notes

I've updated the release notes translation statistics page at http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/DocsProject/Translation/Statistics to include today's current status. As stated in a previous message to fedora-trans-list¹, today at 2359 UTC is the deadline for translations to these materials for the test4 release of Fedora 7. ** Only minor changes will be permitted to the release notes at this time, to ensure that translators are not burdened by too many new or fuzzy strings. ** The next (and FINAL) POT update will occur on 21 April 2007, and the absolute final deadline for translation PO files is 2359 UTC on 2 May 2007. Fedora Bounty for translations

Hey all. I just written a proposal for a Google Summer of Code for "an upstream-compatible L10N platform for Fedora". http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FedoraBounties#L10NPlatform Comments? Suggestions? Anyone experienced in Python thinking of taking it? There some messages of the system-config-securitylevel module on Fedora 7 Test 3 that are not available for translation, so I opened a bug [1] for them in order to we get them translated before the translation freeze. Hi, my name is Asbjørn Nilsen Riseth, and I'm living in Oslo, Norway. I have just recently joined the localization-project, and as the conscientious boy I am, I introduce myself to you according to the steps found here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/L10N/Join/SelfIntroduction Hope I do this right the first time:P I was born the 11th May 1990(16 years old), and currently I go to upper secondary school(simlar to high school I believe). _Me and the Fedora Project:_ This is the first time I take part in any project in the open-source world. I did this spontaneously yesterday, when I found a spelling error in the desctop-effects GUI. First I looked up if there was any way to submit a translation "bug", but I changed my mind and said to myself: "Why not join the Fedora Project instead?" And so I did:P My first thought was just to translate things that has not been translated yet into Norwegian, primarily GUI. But of course, I will see how this works, and maybe I can translate some docs or wiki-pages to. If needed I could also translate some Norwegian Nynorsk, but my mother tounge is Norwegian Bokmål. _Historical qualifications:_ Well, as I said I haven't done anything like this before. My experience with GNU/Linux started with Fedora Core 5, so I haven't got time to explore everything there is to explore yet, though I believe my computerskills may qualify to "experienced"(still, everything is relative). I have done some programming over the last 3/4 years; have had a look at several different languages. I can't say I got any exceptional skills in any programming language, but I know a little in many. DocsProject common entities -- problem with translations?

Hi all. The Docs Project is thinking of substituting entities like "Fedora 7" in all documentation with "&FC;", so that these entities won't change with each upgrade. For example, now we have in the PO: This paragraph is about Fedora. The change will make this: This paragraph is about &FED;. Is there any language that would have a problem with this? One such problem would be languages which change nouns ("Fedora") in different types of sentences, for example: * "This is Fedora" * "These features of Fedora" * "Burn Fedora on a CD" In greek we've left these untranslated and we won't have a problem. What about other languages? New statistics targets

I've added a couple new targets to our Makefile.common for use by translators and repo managers: make postat make postat-${LANG} (e.g.: make postat-pa) These targets will give you information on the current statistics for all languages (or a specific language). These targets rely, of course, on the definition of ${OTHERS} in the Makefile. If you need to force a new ${LANG} because it's not defined in the Makefile yet, you can use the form: OTHERS=${MYLANG} make -e postat-${MYLANG} e.g.: OTHERS=xx make -e postat-xx Output is clipped from the normal "msgfmt --stat" command to look like one of the following, where TT is translated, FF is fuzzy, and UU is untranslated: xx: TT/ xx: TT/UU/ xx: TT/FF/UU -- Paul W. Specspo questions

Hi, I'm maintainer of specspo package. I want to generate new po catalogue for translation and have some questions. Current process looks now like this: - generate new po catalgue from selected rpm repos (usually rawhide-nightly) - commit the changes on ELVIS cvs tree - translation team hard-work here - after they commit their changes put everything to tarball and update specspo on DIST with it - wait till next release (FC or RHEL) and goto 1 This shows we have currently just one specspo ELVIS upstream for everything we release. This specspo includes everything I decide to include according to what we are about to release. Problems: - it is not possible to regenerate catalogues for recent release. If package descr or summary changes for recent product we are not able to do the translation (or at least I don't know how) - upstream on ELVIS is not updated, it is recreated from scratch (from different sources) - this can make troubles to translation team (?) - we have one specspo for everything (this can contain a lot of packages not included in dist). Questions: - should specspo contain every package we produce or we should make specspo with just packages included in dist? (cvs branches for different releases on elvis can help) - where can I get list of packages included in release? - should we include all extras packages? Any comment or idea would be appreciated. For instructions, please refer to the Translation Quick Start Guide¹, Chapter 4, "Translating Documentation." Question about the translation process of fedora 7 relnotes

Hi, I have some question about translation process. Vmlinuz may going to translate it. * What is the CVS url for fedora 7 relnotes? * What group should translator have in the fedora account system? * How to begin translation, I cannot find RELEASE-NOTES on fedora i18n status page, so how can I "TAKE" it?
