Freeze date bump, deadline extended

Error when adding to cvsl10n group

Hi, I've followed the steps on http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/L10N/Join in order to get write acces to documentation translations. However, when I try to add myself to the 'cvsl10n' group, as explained on http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/L10N/Join#head-291f2f26870908be4ee767c087b1b4… I get an error message: 'Add' action denied. You may need to become a member of the cla_done group first. Docs translations: About completion percentages

Hey all. So, in 3 days we have the deadline for the release notes translations. F7 is coming. Yay! :) As some of you might already know, to keep the quality of our published Docs high, we have set a high bar for how much of a document could be translated before being published. So, for example, for small documents like 'homepage' and 'about-fedora', we aim to only publish documents completely translated and for larger documents, like 'release-notes', we've set the bar to 90%. This 90% is kind of tricky, because if a document has a 5% of untranslated strings scattered everywhere the document then its quality is lower than a document having 15% of untranslated strings in an "untouched" section or two (especially if these sections are not popular or are buried down in the doc). So, here's a plan: if some language teams believe their 'release-notes' translation is under 90% *but* the untranslated strings are not important, then please send an email to -docs-list and we can see if the document is in a publishable state. Having this in mind while translating sounds like a good idea as well (translate important stuff first tackling section-by-section in final stages). Also, bear in mind that in this release we are planning on releasing an update on the release notes both on the web and on the desktop via an updated RPM. Possibly ambiguous translation in system-config-date "Pacific/Easter"

Hi all, I'd like to raise your attention to a possibly ambiguous translation in system-config-date, namely the "Pacific/Easter" timezone which means the "Easter Island" (and not "Easter" the holiday ;-)). I've fuzzied the translation so people would check it but found that some only unfuzzied it immediately ;-). Hi, Just noticed a couple of errors while translating that might need some clarification: "Participate in the Fedora Project (<ulink url="http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/HelpWanted">http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Join</ulink>)" Guess the link should be updated to reflect the page move from HelpWanted to Join. "About the Fedora Project (<ulink url="http://fedoraproject.org/Overview">http://fedoraproject.org/Overview</ulink>)" Broken link - missing /wiki/? New POT and PO available for Release Notes

As shown on our schedule[1], the final Release Notes POT and PO are now available for translation. There have been a few string changes, but not many -- about 70-75 total. The Docs Project had hoped for the feature freeze to keep the changes as low as possible, but our developers have been squeezing in a few last improvements to make Fedora 7 as good as possible. That means our Release Notes had to change a little bit to match the changes. In a few cases changes are for readability or to correct conceptual errors. --==[[ The new PO deadline is 2359 UTC, 02 MAY 2007! ]]==-- Here are the new PO statistics shown as of this commit. The "***" markings for the locales es, fi, it, pt, sv, and zh_CN are to show that these translation groups had fully translated the test4 PO before the final changes were imported. problem with cvs access.

Hi, After move of the po files install-guide, i can no more upload this files on cvs server. I suscribe to cvsl10n group, was approved but when i try to connect to the cvs repo, i have the following error : ]#cvs -6 co homepage Enter passphrase for key '/home/UserName/.ssh/id_dsa': Permission denied (publickey,keyboard-interactive). cvs [checkout aborted]: end of file from server (consult above messages if any) My $CVSROOT value is :ext:guillaum@cvs.fedoraproject.org:/cvs/docs Someone can help me to solve this problem ? What's right about translation credits?

Hello, all.. I have some doubts about translation credits and I hope that someone can explain it to me. 1 - About msgid "translator-credits" in all PO files. I suppose we must put one translator per line, in the form of: NAME <EMAIL>, YEAR. (right?) So, where that will appear? I have checked some modules GUI like system-config-* and I did't see it anywhere. 2 - The same problem above happen on CVS Docs. We have the msgid "translator-credits" in PO files, but it is't displayed on pages published at docs.fedoraproject.org. However we have some confused things here, because some modules, like mirror-tutorial<http://docs.fedoraproject.org/mirror/>, shows names of translators as author, cause they were added in rpm-info.xmlin <colophon> tag. But, in other modules, like install-guide <http://docs.fedoraproject.org/install-guide/fc6/>, this does't happened. Then... What's the right thing to do? String Change: anaconda

Due to a few things, I've just committed an update to anaconda's pot file which adds a few strings. Part of it was things which should have been but weren't already being marked for translation, one is adding a better message for an error case and we also got to fully translated for another language and so had to add it to the language list. Apologies for the lateness, but we'll be pulling and building anaconda still for a while after test4 so it hopefully won't cause any big problems. Jeremy

Hi, In file ../src/mainWindow.py at line 147, there is "Add a samba share" at line 196, there is "Add a Samba share" that cause 2 strings instead of one in pot file. Should be fixed. At ligne 430, there is "%sA graphical interface for configuring SMB shares" No spage needed after %s ? In file system-config-samba.gladestrings at line 8, there is "label30" at line 10, there is "label31" at line 12, there is "label32" at line 14, there is "label33" at line 16, there is "label34" at line 18, there is "label35" at line 20, there is "label36" at line 22, there is "label37" at line 24, there is "label38" at line 26, there is "label39" at line 28, there is "label40" at line 30, there is "label41" at line 32, there is "label42" at line 34, there is "label43" at line 36, there is "label44" at line 50, there is "*" at line 78, there is "window1" It seems to me that these strings wouldn't be translatable. Switching entities back

We will be reverting entity handling back to the "-e" version. This will require some additional translation between F7 test4 => F7 Final, but the work involved should be minimal. I will revert this behavior *after* the fedora-release-notes package goes to the release engineering team. You may find that certain titles or names are not properly translated in the test4 output for this reason, for example: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=236454 This behavior will be fixed after: 1. The entity handling reverts to "xml2po -e", AND 2. Translators complete the changes to their PO content resulting from the entity handling change. I expect to make this change around 16-17 April. I apologize to the translators for creating this bit of extra work, and I'll try not to have that happen again. Thanks to everyone for your efforts and keep up the good work! -- Paul W. What needs to be done to have a language added to the installer

Hello With fedora's site moving now, I didn't find anything on what needs to be done to have the fedora installer available in a new language. I've been watching that the Essential Modules from the status page ( http://elvis.redhat.com/cgi-bin/i18n-status?page=status&branch=HEAD&locale=… ) are at 100%, but although this has been done, in the last test release I still don't have romanian in the installer. Can anyone help me with this ? -- Alexandru Szasz

New specspo structure

Hi, I'm maintainer of specspo package. I regenerated specspo pot files and slightly changed tree structure. The process looked like this: - generate new po catalgue from selected rpm repos (usually rawhide-nightly) - commit the changes on ELVIS cvs tree - translation team hard-work here - after they commit their changes put everything to tarball and update specspo on DIST with it - wait till next release (FC or RHEL) and goto 1 This shows we had currently just one specspo ELVIS upstream for everything we release. This specspo included everything I decide to include according to what we are about to release. Problems: - it was not possible to regenerate catalogues for recent release. If package descr or summary changed for recent product we were not able to do the translation (or at least I didn't know how) - upstream on ELVIS was not updated, it was recreated from scratch (from different sources) - this can make possibly troubles to translation team (? - correct me if I am wrong) - we had one specspo for everything (this could contain a lot of packages not included in dist). To solve some of these problems I decided to split current specspo tree into branches like DIST tree is. So since now it looks like this: |-- common |-- RHEL-5 | `-- dist | |-- desc | `-- summary `-- devel `-- dist |-- desc `-- summary Directory common contains some service scripts. Under RHEL-5 and devel is same structure you are used to. After release of fc7 I make copy of devel called FC-7. I am about to improve service scripts so they can post mail to fedora-trans-list if pot files in directory other then devel are changed. (this should by VERY rare). I hope that than the process remain unchanged for translation team (you just need to keep translation in specspo/devel/ up to date). If I can do anything that can make your translation of specspo smoother, let me know. Also any comment or idea would be appreciated. Regards, Martin
